November 9, 201114 yr Hi.Usually i start my Flight sim by opening REX and clicking fly now, i then start 'SHADE_NL' and that is that.Now that i have Active sky X, do i still open REX and click fly now, or does that conflict with Active Sky? My system which is due for delivery on the 27th October 2011 Intel i5 2500k 4.5ghz Asus GeForce GTX560ti 1024mb GDDR5 Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Corsair Vengeance Blue 8gb 1600mhz Seagate Baracuda 500GB 6GB/s 16mb Cache Cooler Master Elite case Cooler Master hyper 212 CPU fan G7 780w PSU - I know i need to upgrade this! 32" BEKO HD LCD screen FSX Acceleration + UTX, GEX, REX, GenX VFR UK, all UK2000 airports, Mogwaisoft Shade, many Aerosoft Major Airports And... PMDG's 744X Queen of the skies. Total outlay about £1500. Next i intend on getting a good Yoke and peddles.
November 9, 201114 yr I have always avoided using other apps to start fsx, and I have REX pre loaded, and shade, and ase is run also, Then start fsx. November 9, 201114 yr Author Shade doesn't work without clicking on either 'SHADE' or 'SHADE_DL' am i right? I start REX but i thought the only way you would get full benefit from REX is if you 'fly now' via it.Or does it have some sort of connection that ignites when you start FSX, in the same way Active Sky X initiates? I start REX but i thought the only way you would get full benefit from REX is if you 'fly now' via it.Or does it have some sort of connection that ignites when you start FSX, in the same way Active Sky X initiates?HelloIf you are not using the REX weather engine, and you won't be if you are using ASE then you do not need REX started.REX only needs loading for two reasons1 to use the weather engine2 to load another theme.ASE is in my opinion light years ahead of the REX weather engine

November 9, 201114 yr You can reap the benefits of using REX with ASE by using REX, before you start FSX, to load the cloud textures that matches the realtime weather of your flight location; ASE will then use those weather specific cloud textures for its weather patterns within FSX.
