Looking for a realistic 747 GE CF6-80C2 soundpack

Featured Replies

Hi,Even though the NGX is out, I'm still flying the 747X, but I've never been able to find a good soundpack for the GE engines. I don't like the ones from Turbine Sound Studios that much (all of them are great but not of the 747GE), so I was wondering if anyone knows a good 747 GE CF6-80C2 soundpack somewhere around the net, or payware maybe? Cuz I love that engine sound, it's my favourite jet engine. Thanks!

As said in my original post, I don't like the one from TSS that much. The roar at full power, the whistle at 70% N1, are not entirely spot on...

What exactly is wrong with ours? It was recorded from the real thing...
Well in my opinion your soundpacks sound really nice, but there's not really a difference between the GE, PW, and RR soundpack, except for the roar at full power. They just don't sound entirely like the videos I've seen on youtube, and from my personal experience. The 737NGX soundpack is gorgeous though, spot on, no need to replace that one with another. But the older 747X and MD-11X need a replacement in my opinion.

No disrespect Ryan, while your sound guy did a very good job you can find much more realistic sound packs available for the 744 now, and this is coming from someone who has spent a fair bit time on the 744 flightdeck. OP - there was a guy called Devyn Silverstein who created a very good soundpack however I think his work got lost in the Avsim hack, may be worth trying flightsim.com or just using google. The only thing I tweaked was to adjust the wind sound to completely drown out the engines in cruise. If you can't find the pack send me a pm and I will try and get it zipped for you.Regards

Yes I did use Google. And I'm looking for the 747 GE CF6-80C2 soundpack, not the CFM56-7B for the 737! That soundpack from PMDG is already great!

After searching AVSIM for "Devyn Silverstein", I have finally found his General Electric CF6-80C2B1F soundpack. After trying it in FSX, I don't like it at all. It's not even close to the real thing. Where is the beautiful whistle at 70% N1? I think if there is not other soundpack available that the one from TSS is still the best (except for the roar at full power).

Send me a link to the file so we know we are both talking about the same thing, he has done a huge amount of packs over the years, the RR soundpack had about 5 different versions. The newer packs had previews so you could hear the spool effect.Regards

For some reason AVSIM does not create URL's, it's just all www.avsim.net, but here's the file name:General Electric CF6-80C2B1F Soundset for the Boeing 747-400But I've already found a way better one, with great spool up, a great roar too. here's the file name:b767_ge_cf6-80c.zipFor the people reading this post now and are looking for a 747 GE soundpack too, this is a great one. Just go to www.avsim.net and click File Library, just paste the filename above in the search bar, press ENTER, and download it. After that delete all content of from /Simobjects/Airplanes/PMDG747-400 and PMDG747-400F/Sound.GE, and simply extract all the content from the downloaded file from avsim in to that Sound.GE folder (after you delete the original content of the Sound.GE folder!).
