Flew Bhutan last night in the NGX. With default scenery it is a very difficult approach, as the hills are not in the correct place it seems. I'll try again with the chart tonight, thanks for the link. I enjoy challenging approaches like this.

Paul, thanks for posting the info and video. I did an approach and landing at the airport, it was more than fun:waiting for the numbers...

See in your screenshots, where your final approach is, in the video is a mountainside and they fly through the valley with an offset approach angle. I'd love to see more realistic elevation data in this area. I wonder if it has to do with the mesh, would having a higher resolution mesh help?

Did you use charts? I found if flew it according to the chart I would screw up. If I flew the same way as the video with a sharp left turn to be lined up around 100ft then I would land perfectly. The charts require an insane descent down a hill.I fly in out of this place via Delhi quite a bit now, the departure is just as stunning, definitely on my real world destination list.http://va-transaero....charts/VQPR.pdf
That chart seems to be only for Runway 33 rather than 15 as featured in the video. If you watch the route they take they fly over the field then at PRO DME 9.0 then turn up the upper left hand valley at a approx heading of 300, they then make a right hand turn and somehow get over to the right hand valley as the approach is now on the left. The terrain seems too high with FSGlobal and its impossible to get from one valley to the other at the altitude these guys are flying at. Perhaps someone could do a diagram of what they think happens here

I think they did alot more than Shift! :PBut this is just FSX's Modelling of friction at it's worst.

One thing that confuses me about this approach is the video shpws a 180 degree right hand turn after flying over the airport at 4000 AGL, the technical paper on in tis posts show a left hand turn? There are no charts showing the RW 15 approach - they show a 33 approach - I guess it's up to you to figure how to get yourself to 15?

Amazing approach and landing.

It's a cloud breaking procedure. You fly an instrument approach to a certain altitiude. Visibility OK: proceed, else go around.Since it's a visual approach, you basically fly it how you want.Bert Van BulckBert Van BulckLike this one
