November 23, 201114 yr Author I tried removing the halo.bmp file, but the light texture still appeared, so the problem can't be anything to do with that. The blue strobe light isn't always on. It strobes fine. It's just that it isn't the original light texture (it's much bigger than the old one), and it appears to be getting displayed IN ADDITION to the original. The problem here is that it looks ugly, and it completely overshadows the standard strobe light. The problem is apparent with ALL of my planes, so it appears not to be directly related to the Turbine Duke. November 23, 201114 yr In my effect folder i have a texture folder aswell....is there anything in there that can help?...(tho you did say about the fx_2.bmp so i guess you already looked in there?)If not im stumped mate.Might be 1 for the devs. Regards Luke M
November 23, 201114 yr Author Since it affects all of my planes, I am not convinced that anyone at RealAir could help me. However, it would be extremely helpful if someone could let me know which texture file is used to display the strobe lights! November 23, 201114 yr ahh yes of coarse, i missed that it effect all planes..Have you ever had rex installed? If yes, then maybe it changed the master effect/texture file, and didnt replace the original when you uninstalled..You could then ask the rex devs whitch file gets changed, and go from there. But ofcoarse, if you havnt had rex installed before this post is piontless :D Regards Luke M
November 23, 201114 yr Author I have never had REX installed, but thanks anyway for the pointless post I have only recently (last weekend) installed the Turbine Duke. Other stuff that I have installed recently.......Aerosoft's Madeira X, Rick Piper's HS748, the Just Flight Vickers Viscount, and the IWG Duxford scenery. I have since uninstalled the first three... November 23, 201114 yr Author Well, it seems that this problem is indeed related to the fx_2.bmp file. Maybe one of my payware addons modified the default version, and I assumed that the new version was the standard one? Whatever the case, I have found an alternative version of fx_2.bmp that was created for FS9. It gives the lights "starlike rays", and that horrible "dinner plate sized" blue light has been banished for good :( Whilst the jury is still out regarding the look of these "rays" from inside the cockpit, they look great from spot and tower views!I think that I will make do with this solution for now. Thanks for all the suggestions, guys.
