X-plane 10 demo is out...

Hi Goran,I don't have it here at work - but I am sure someone can back me up on these aspects. They're not mysterious.FYI by "tip over" I mean that left on its own, the default XP Cessna will not stay upright in a realistic manner. It flies as if it's top-heavy and simply wants to spiral (aggressively) out of straight & level flight. I can assure you that 172s will stray a bit off straight and level, but not nearly in such a pronounced way.Stationary aircraft moving on the runway - it happens to me every single time, and with even a light wind, it's worse. A light wind will push my default 172 off the runway, even with the brakes on.Just google either one of these issues for more reading than you probably care for...I'm looking forward to hearing more about the changes to flight modeling and weather in XP10... as well as for FS11.cheersAndrew
Not meaning to stir anything, but the skidding on the runway just doesn't happen to me. I develop for x plane. I have opened every single aircraft in X Plane. I've never had the runway skid. And that is with real weather permanently turned on. When it's windy, the extent of my C172 movement is the ASI moving between an average of 0 and 4kts IAS when the aircraft is stationary. I haven't flown a real 172 for about 9 years, but I do know there is some torque from the engines as well as the prop spiralling slipstream affecting the yaw by hitting 1 side of the rudder. (Reason for the prop being slightly off center, but I have no doubt you knew that). Is the torque and slipstream too much in the X Plane default Cessna? -shrugs- I'm more experienced in Beech aircraft. And I know I have to always set rudder trim in a single engine Beech GA so I keep to the center-line.

Hmmm... well - as I noted, it's far from an unknown issue - but I wonder what could be causing it then. Not only that - the runway "slide" I'm getting is incorrect as well - if the wind is from the right, the nose turns to the left. (While stationary)As far as the aircraft rolling over, it's not the torque - it does it to either side. Just weird. I fly Pipers and a Diamond DA20 now, and even those hold steady really well. I have never used rudder trim.... Sometimes my leg hurts though...[edit] I think there were some videos of the "skidding" too, on Youtube, but it's blocked here at work so I can't check.

As they say in real estate; location, location, location.

I've just had the C90 moving with the brakes fully on (sliding forward) at KSEA (real weather) with the fuel levers at idle and the props nearly feathered, so no you are not the only person to see this Andrew.

Cheers, Andy.

screenshots, screenshots, screenshots. Also, what's the weather like?(screenshot of the weather screen?)

I cant see the point of posting a screenshot its static, hows that going to show the aircraft creeping along, yes the weather screenshot may be helpful but I haven't got the time or inclination to post one. If you don't believe me tough titties, I couldn't care less what you think to be honest.

Cheers, Andy.

You can do better than that, can't you?X Plane has a video recording utility built in. You could always record it.And I asked for the weather screenshot so I could set the same weather and see for myself. Going by your last post, I don't see any reason to bother.Have a great day!

I started this thread just to let everybody knows that XP-10 Beta Demo was out, I understand that XP-10 may not be for everybody as it sit right now but at least the guys at Laminar are listening to all of you wiho are complaining about the product for future patch, can we say the same about MS?I have not tried the demo yet (busy with other stuff) and I am sure that plenty of bugs exist in XP-10 but knowing that Laminar will work on them and will also enhance XP-10 I will give XP-10 a shot at it, now who ever is complaining about XP-10 as it is right now may wait until they release the 10.90 patch.@Andydigital, this is the best example of what I'm saying, GoranM asked you to post a screenshot, why, because you think he does not beleive you, I don't think so...try "They want to fix the bugs"...and your attitude is "If you don't believe me tough titties".....where did GoranM said that he does not believe you? You also said "I haven't got the time or inclination to post one" but you had the time to write your post to complain about it right?Man, give the guys a chance here....

I see that your signature says that are a HiFi Simulation beta tester; if that is indeed fact, I would have expected a better response than the one you posted!

I've read every single post that Goran has written in regard to XP10 and his attitude to anyone with a differing opinion to his own is very clear. In my opinion it came across as him not believing what I or Andrew said in regard to this issue. If he meant it another way then great and I apologise for my comments, but until he states otherwise what he really meant I shall continue with my train of thought.Maybe if Goran had expanded on...

....and explained what he really meant maybe I wouldn't have jumped to the wrong conclusion. Regardless I still don't have the time to post a screen shot or video, inclination or not.

Dont be silly Mike, what I say in my posts does not reflect on the opinions of any company I beta test for and why should it, it doesn't stop Goran from having strong opinions about FSX and its users so why should it be different for anyone else.

Cheers, Andy.

I don't have any hidden agendas, Andy. I even PM'ed Turner112 and had a brief, friendly exchange over the C172 flight model. He is a little more informed now and we may explore the flight model issue a little further. My aim isn't to argue with people. My aim is to help. If you're skidding all over the runway, I would like to know the conditions so I could set it up. Screenshots would have helped (more than one) to show the different positions of the aircraft as it was skidding. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and trust that you did NOT have the throttle engaged. We can't help when people just make statements without providing screenshots. We need to actually see what is happening. If screenshots are not possible, then the weather settings would be enough so I can take time out of my night (It's 330am here) and test it out myself and see what exactly is happening.I trust this explanation is sufficient.

I thought it was pretty clear what I said originally....

The only thing I forgot to expand on was the fact that I would have been stationary apart from this very slow sliding forward movement. I was waiting to enter the runway actually. I dont think it was weather related as there was no visible buffeting it was dry as well. If you want the weather then it was whatever the real weather was at around 40 minutes before my first post in this thread. I'm presuming XP weather server doesn't cache weather for a previous time so it shouldn't be too hard to track down the weather at the time. Besides you should be in bed anyway at 3:30 in the morning Hypnotized.gif

Cheers, Andy.

I think this thread has moved way past an imformative heads up that a new flight sim has been released to the community. I am going to lock it now as that part has been accomplished and suggest moving discussions about xplane to the xplane forum.
