November 26, 201114 yr Commercial Member Apparently, PMDG has at least considered XPL10, as in Lelystad they are told to have a version of I think NGX and 747 running in XPL.Whether they consider the porting viable, not viable, or wait for sales information, I do not know. What he said is that we have the X Plane 10 beta, not that we have our aircraft running in it... we don't. November 26, 201114 yr My first impression is not good as well. I also removed the X Plane 10 demo after 15 minutes of fiddling.FSX + a bunch of addons and airports + 737 NGX will remain unbeatable for few years to come I guess.
November 26, 201114 yr I've already pre-ordered X-Plane10 to replace my 9 version, but it is not going to replace FSX. The addons that I have for X-Plane9 will work in 10 and I believe the lower grade visual models in XP10 are just default aircraft anyway. I believe the addon developers will make much better looking models. What is default (a dirty word) for X-Plane10 look better than the default planes in FSX, so the payware addons should look great if they can crank it up a notch from what has been offered. The scenery is look a whole lot better. November 26, 201114 yr Considering the computing power of today with the time line of development and the last release dates of XP9 and FSX, which were years ago, I have to say I am not impressed with XPL10 at all. Just the screen shots release by the developers show how far behind all these guys are in any real development of a solid sim. Even current freeware developers are miles ahead of this game in designing both visually appealing and more realistic handling aircraft and scenery. Maybe its these individuals love and pride in their work that spur's such quality, rather then being driven by a bottom line of production cost. There are also those fantastic payware groups like PMDG and others who also create stunning models for us to fly. However, there seems to be no desire by the major developers to produce a highly advanced sim that truly maximizes the computing power of today's machines. I for one will certainly not be buying XPL10 due to the clear lack of quality development, both in the scenery and the aircraft. Maybe when these large developers behind XPL10 or MSF actually try and catch up a bit with the likes of PMDG and others will I begin to think about re-investing in a new flightsim program.KE

I didn't think there was anything worse than FSX (gag, puke) default aircraft. Robert Yunque
November 26, 201114 yr ... because 6 years passed by and the ones of Xplane 10 are definitely worse than the FSX default ones, 6 years later.+1It only takes a brief look and their screen shots to see that all the visual models are well behind even the default FSX birds (not that these were that great either, but visually they are better). There seems to have been no effort to try and take advantage of any of the latest graphics capabilities of todays computers.KE
November 26, 201114 yr I tried the 747 of Xplane 10 demo and it is really really worse than the default FSX 747 both in terms of graphic and flight.I also tried to shut the X Plane 10 747 engines off and it flews for around 8-10 minutes without loosing feets..... maybe the demo has some serious bug.
November 27, 201114 yr I too have to say that I'm not really impressed with X-Plane 10.The one thing that really impressed me relative to FSX are the clouds -- much more "solid" and believable. But then there's a big list of minuses. I should add that I only flew the 747, and only for about half an hour. But given that the 747 is the default plane in the demo, one would expect a bit of polish there. Here's what I noted:- The autopilot in the 747 has nothing to do with the real 747 autopilot modes. For example, the level change button works nothing like the real thing.- The mouse wheel does not appear to work on rotary knobs. Instead, they are adjusted by clicking and holding the mouse button, then moving the mouse left or right. For some knobs (e.g. the altitude selector), it takes agonizingly long to adjust them to the desired value.- The 747 reacts very sensitively to gusts in roll. There is no sense of momentum. Of course I don't have any real-world 747 experience, but I do know that even a glider is much less "twitchy" than X-Plane's 747.- VC view system that doesn't seem to be suitable for airliners. For example, I find the way that mouse view is implemented is very strange. There is a mouse view mode, but in this mode, every mouse movement changes the view. I haven't found a way to configure it so the mouse only changes the view when a certain key or mouse button is pressed.I realize the 747 is just a default aircraft, but for those standards, it seems a bit bland. And it may of course be that I've just been doing things wrong, in which case I'd be delighted if an X-Plane expert could enlighten me.---Martin Boehme
November 27, 201114 yr The one thing that really got my attention from the Xplane 10 preview videos released way back when was the Space Shuttle. If X-plane can seriously and accurately simulate super sonic flight and upper atmospheric flight, than I will certainly give it a look. November 27, 201114 yr Who. apart from casual simmers, bother with default aircraft anyway? Jason D, using P3Dv5 and DCS Intel Core i9-9900K @ 3.6GHz, nVidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, 32GB RAM, Oculus Rift S
