December 11, 201114 yr Hmmm, can we turn this around the other way and manually set the number of hours an airframe has been used in some config file or other? I think it would be more interesting to get into a cockpit just before its major service is due then just after? Paul Smith.
December 11, 201114 yr Commercial Member Guys I think you're all missing the point. I believe, his point is about how one of the features of the NGX was the fact maintenance that had to be done on the aircraft after so many hours. Well each time we remove then reinstall the liveries, this resets the clock to zero. I've actually thought about this too, pity. This is the point, does each livery have its own config files, or does the maintence run down connected to the aircraft config.. In this case, do we have to back that up and put it back in? or should we just start it again,This is the problem and I don't think any of the staff have suggested a work around or explanation? Before this thread passes beyond the even horizon as it were, it is the loss hours that bothered me.And I fell into this issue on my flight today. I saw that SP1b was done and was to be available, checked in this morning and saw it was downloaded it and went off to work. Came back, had a few hours, figured I could get a flight in. Then it dawned on me that I didn't download the new service pack. So I opened the folder, looked at the readme, and didn't see anything about liveries in the installation notes, so I went ahead with it.Fired up my previous flight save to continue my trip around the world, and got a notice that my livery was not valid, or initilized, the exact words I do not recall. My takeoff window was now quickly approaching so I fired up the livery manager, and had to reload my livery, then head off.Clearly I was way out of line asking this question, looking at a few of the responses questioning my ability to read English, or what amounts to a fudge off from PMDG's representative, I will just get back to making sure I backup the tail's .cfg file, so when PMDG releases their next SP that is incompatible with their own livery system, I will not be found in the same situation again. And by the way, for those who wonder, the hours are in the same file that stores the equipment and display settings for the tail number. It is in the PMDG/NGX folder in your FSX installation folder. I have been calling it a .cfg, but actually I think it is an .ini file. Save that, and you save the hours, and the equipment/display preferences. As PMDG still has not come to the realization to implement some sort of weighed hour accumulation process, without flying the NGX with the same regularity of an actual line plane, the feature is already far less potent, and with the hours being zeroes out as it were with frequency, the serviced based failiures is nothing short of a worthless feature.Cheers,All of you should've read the former briefs on the Service Packs / HFs. On one of the first updates they gave us after the release of the bird, they told us that the maintenance was tracked in INI files. These are located in the FSX Root / PMDG / PMDG 737 NGX / Aircraft folder.Yes, they could make it more obvious by putting in an extra screen at the beginning saying "hey if you want your hours to still be where they are now, go snag your INIs in your PMDG folder and back them up. When the SP finishes, re-add your liveries and drop these INIs back in, overwriting the new ones."...but they did tell us, just for the record. The lack of personal observance of that is a personal issue. Kyle Rodgers

December 12, 201114 yr Commercial Member Right down to the tail number (livery) is the default. You'll see em listed in there by tail number, so make sure you know the tail of the livery you're looking for....but there's an option to run it all off of one (by type, probably). Kyle Rodgers
December 12, 201114 yr Commercial Member Scott-You have a point that I think has been overlooked. We'll take a look at the livery manager and see if we can't make it prompt you for input on whether it should overwrite the ini files or not during a livery install.Keep in mind the livery manager is 100% new with the NGX- and with each update we add a few new features to make it more user friendly.Now- that being said: It is quite obvious that you are here this weekend intent on insulting or picking a fight with the PMDG moderators. I'd hate to have to put a user with your account history on probation- so please remember that you are dealing with live human beings on the other end of your posts- and our ENTIRE reason for being here is to help out and make the hobby better. When you lose sight of that- it is time to go outside for some fresh air. What I meant was that either it was missed or #4 was added later. In any case I was being polite and not on a witch hunt like you appear to be.Dan-It was not edited after-the-fact. Robert S. December 12, 201114 yr Robert, I meant nothing bad about that. I have done a ton of long posts and after the fact (normally within seconds) made edits. I was merely trying to state the more could have happened rather than leave it out there for idiots to just say crap like "Open your eyes". You of all people should understand where I was coming from I would think. Read my original post, the one you chose to quote was just further explanation. I've been defusing situations here for years, sorry if you happen to see it in any other light. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 12, 201114 yr Commercial Member Guys,We're going to change the livery manager so that it can back up the inis when doing a removal and when installing a livery that has an ini already there in the folder... should have an update at some point soon for this. December 12, 201114 yr Awesome. I honestly didn't even know it had the feature for the maintenance thing. One of these days (after Christmas) I plan on have a nice long weekend read. Having this functionality though for such files is a must and good to see it's on the way. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

December 12, 201114 yr I think there may have been some confusion to the SP1b post. Either that, or it was edited after the fact (seen that before done that before).Line 3 states - "YOU DO NOT NEED TO REINSTALL FROM SCRATCH"Line 4 states - "You will need to reinstall liveries after this update"+1Thx Ian Ian C.
