Yeah it does feel kinda solid doesnt it, in a good way, certainly not quite as light as the old model. Just noticed that now when completing a flight and flicking off the A/P on finals. Also had my first wonky LNAV experience, it really got pretty badly off track when following a fairly simple STAR, I had to break out of LNAV/VNAV and use HDG select etc. Be interesting to see just how much of a problem this becomes. Also noticed tonight that some of the VC elements weren't changing position when I clicked them, the gear-level, auto-brake switch and ignition switches. They just wouldnt budge in the VC, could switch to 2D and change them but then they're new position wouldnt be updated in the VC. This is definately a bug, didnt happen in my flights last night.
Weird, but some switches require the mouse wheel to switch em in the VC, try that.. I can only move auto brake and ignition with mouse wheel for some reason..

Out of curiousity, where does the paintkit install to? I couldn't find it?!I have the non "deluxe" version, but can't see where the painkit is?!!

Nope, doesnt seem to ship with one, not in the deluxe version either.

Me too. I fully agree to the flight model statements though, not bad at all and, with altered sounds, quite some fun.True on the VC logics of some switches. Mouse wheel only there. Could be more consistent, which also means the direction of the turns needed (autobrake). Dragging some stuff also works. On the gear lever for example. Can you guys run the weather radar in the VC? Me thinks it may be the 64bit problem that prevents this. Would be sad though.

Well, that is ^%#$* stupid! Their site clearly advertised it?!!! :(

Thanks Cool, yeah I see that now dragging does work, I was just clicking the gear-lever. Was dragging the fuel levers though before and they are now working. Must be a bug in there under certain conditions where they get out of synch. Am warming to the 2D wide-screen panel now, really looks the part, nice and clear to use. One new minor annoyance, just noticed you can right click the MCP rotary dials to bump them up or down by values of 10 for faster setting, but you cant do it in the VC so expect a case of RSI if you have to make major adjustments to HDG, ALT etc

Referring to the weather radar question of mine? Well, I can only see it working in the 2D panel (which runs on 64 bit too), but my VC WR doesn't come up, only the ND distance rings. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. My statement on the 64bit stuff was an assumption only.

Yes, would be nice to see the VC supporting the right click fast dial too or just make the knobs turn a bit faster. I'm cheating with the keyboard commands as they allow a fast change, e. g. 1000 feet on the altitude. So the clickspots itself are great, only the turn rate is too low.On the actual flying, it seems like Orbx gives us a great NZ to discover, huh?

Sorry Cool, I was replying to Deeknow :)

Haha, no problem then. You are right, a paintkit would help, but may also spoil their deluxe sales. So I think it's a matter of fact that we currently don't see one. Lets hope that there's one in the pipeline.

I was looking forward to this release until I heard some of the negative reviews. It sounds like it isn't worth the price just to upgrade. I hope they release an update in the future to fix the problems that others are mentioning.

Weather radar working fine here in VC, there's special instructions for 64 bit.. I believe you need to take ownership of fsx then try to reinstall.. I just need the yoke out of the way and the arm rest so I don't have to use pop ups or 2d panel..

Tony Fontaine

The WR puzzles me. After toggling the 2D cockpit popup, it works in the VC. I think I have to investigate some more.On the yokes and stuff, I must say EZCA helps, not only on this plane. But yokes and seat position don't fit, you are right.

After giving this bird a chance, I'll give my 2 cents also...Now I'm a VC flyer - every time I'm forced to call up the 2D is a lack of enjoyment right there... The flight was in the -500 SAS during day hours, as the bird is notflyable in night time, due to the totally messed up Overhead... Overall I'm not happy, mainly because all the elements that really are annoying, totally superseeds the few good things about the plane.Things I don't like (flying only in VC):1. Unflyable during night operations2. Even in daylight, the FL and LND ALT in the AC panel are hard to see, and sometimes forces me to call up 2D.3. GRD PWR does not become available after 1 min (RTFM - did it twice)...4. Unable to set DH from VC due to armrest - call up 2D.4a. Unable to start engines from VC, because fuel levers are out of sync with 2D - had to call up 2D again.5. Took about 1 minute to set initial FL 070 before departure, due to obsene slow reaction on the MCP knobs..6. Took about 1 minute to set FL in the AC panel - same problem as above7. Took about 1 minute to set the HDG for departure RWY - same as above.8. took about 1 minute to set cruise FL 250 from 070 - not very convinient while trying to fly a SID...9. Unable to set NAV 1 and 2 from VC - just isn't clear anough to see - (and yes alle displays set to best graphics in the setup) - call up 2D.10. Took about 2 minutes to set CRS for ILS (FO and CP side) - same as before mentioned.10a. Unable to shut down engines from VC due to fuel levers not synces with 2D - call up 2D panel again.11. Overall the graphics of the VC are not very nice, and coming from the NGX it's hard to believe that they are actually in the same buisness...Things I do not dislike:1. LNAV performing adequate2. VNAV peforming aduquate3. handles nicely on handflying. All in all I do not feel that the product is worth the price - at least not as it stands now.I still want to thank the good people here (read Cool IP) for helping me out during the initial problems!Mas

You know the most upsetting thing I think is that the things you mention Mas, and the other faults we've all covered (so far) seem like relatively trivial things to have fixed, and are SO OBVIOUS that there clearly wasnt any substantial quality control going on for this release. A real shame really.I still think however that for a Classic 737 fan if you don't already have a working Wilco then the Evo is worth a look. For the rest of us maybe we just have to hope for an Evo of the Evo to sort out the bugs

Dean Stringer

MAS.. I don't have those issues except for the slow mcp knobs, and setting decision height, but I just go to first officer seat for that.. Yes, the FL and LND ALT needs to be brightened to see it.. As far as the engines, having no issues starting or shutting down from VC.. If you have 64 bit, you need to take ownership of the FSX folder then install or you'll have issues.. There are some very talented people out there, I hope someone can work on the VC textures... If this helps, in the real classics, the autopilot needs a little help sometimes and even the auto throttle.. When intercepting the LOC, is works much better if you have a less than 45 degree intercept or she'll turn too late.. LNAV needs work, the aircraft seems to overshoot waypoints that are close together on Departure and Approach, I hand fly em anyway..
