February 22, 200422 yr Finally :-hah This should get you started in the right direction:Using Prop RPM to control Prop sound in turboprops...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=16497&page=
February 25, 200422 yr Hi,Dash 8 sound by Fanda is generated by a gauge called maingauge.gau.This gauge does not only drive the sound but also the all system.Oleksiy used a smart but complicated way to get that using the throttle axis 3 and 4 instead 1 and 2. The weak point is that this gauge is not connected to FSUIPC,therefore complicated to calibrate in each axises. It needs a specific program done for EPIC user. I wrote some times ago to Leo and telling him about the specific prop noise not present in any pay or freeware and in his first sound packs. But I can suggest to anybody to get FSsoundstudio where you can adjuts the sound graphically, add some specific sounds, delete some other without being a guru of FS9 sound config file. I achieved a sound relatively close to the Dash8 for my Short360 sound using that program. But some specifics found in the DASH are not possible without gauge programming as for example:-Drag wave file when gear is lowered.-Drag wave file when flaps are lowered.-Specific vibrations wave files depending on RPM setting on the props.-Ground fine wave file which is very specific to turboprops.-Flight Idle throttle specific wave file-Feather specific wave fileand a lot more, all far beyond what is proposed by all paywares.Payware companies would be able to achieve it too, but unfortunately they are more and more focused on the crowd who do not care to flight a Cheyenne, a B1900 a Dash8 or an ATR42 with the sound of a businessjet, but it must have 2000 moving parts and tons of detail bitmaps. When I fly a real plane I do not have the chance to see how the gear is retracting in its place but any specific vibration or unknown sound tells me that something is going wrong. But as far as I know a serious company is planning a software intend to run on a second computer and taking over all sounds needed in FS.It should run on any older PI or PII computer and rise the level of sound realism almost to perfection without hits on the main graphical program. Hope it will come soon. Roger
February 25, 200422 yr Just to show how poorly some paywares are done. The first pictures is the screen of FSsoundstudio when loading my Short 360 prop sounds. That's the graphics of the prop Max files. You can change it until you find the best results.Below the screen I get with a payware turboprop. I wont give the name here in order to avoid unusefull discussions.Rogerhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/64624.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/64625.jpg
