February 11, 200422 yr I'm going to highly reccomend the new Vans RV-7 by FlightFactory-Simulations. I have always enjoying flying the little guys, it's been my love since I was a wee one. This thing has brought me so much joy, and I've only owned it 6 hours! The maintenance mode is awesome, it really makes you feel like you own one. Just to show one of the GREAT features of this plane, I'll tell you what happened to me while flying today. I heard if you run low on oil, below 5.5 quarts, you will start to put excessive stress on the engine, makes sense right HIGH HEAT=BROKEN ENGINE, well I figured I'd see it for myself, so I ran the oil down to 2 quarts, and set off flying. Sure enough the oil pressure started to fall, and CHT started increasing, soon enough it was way past the redline. After a few moments I heard a knocking, then some clicks and some rattles, before you know it, BAM, she blew. Smoke started sputtering out of the exhaust, and the engine started knocking and chuggin along like an old steam engine, actually it sounded very realistic (though I've never had that happen before :) But wow, I've never seen something like that with such detail, it's wonderful, and that's not all. It brings such realism to this product, makes you want to take care of it. But don't listen to me, just check it out on the site FlightFactory-simulations.com, Trust me, if you like little guys, or want a break from the heavies, give this bad boy a shot. You wont be dissapointed! I know I'm not. Few more things, it runs great on my machine, the V/C is awesome, some of the clearest gauges I've seen. Also, if you put the flaps down above 100kts, you will break the flap motor, and will have to fix it (good thing it's covered in the waranty, no joke!) Oh, and they have the absolute best customer support, seriously.. I haven't seen a group so hell-bent on helping people, or just answering basic questions ever. Well go give it a look, I'm sad to see that it's not being mentioned more. Well that's just my two-cents worth. P.S. It even gets dirty over time and you have to wash it, wow, how neat, ha. Giver a try! Ty89m
February 11, 200422 yr Have to agree, brilliant. :)It's no one thing that impresses as a stand out, although the visuals are terrific and the flight model is great, it's that you're not just `flying`, now you're `owning and flying` and are responsible for the upkeep of the aircraft on the ground and in the air. It's added something that until now was missing from FS, except in the most basic forms. No more just jumping in and taking off, now you have to check oil levels and do a proper `walk round`It certainly upped realism by several notches for me, and just whets the appetite for the Cirrus SR22 the team are working on!Allcott
February 11, 200422 yr Hi,I totally agree with the two above posts, with the Vans and the PMDG B1900 on my drive, I am hard pushed to fly anything else.I was flying the Van's last night when I accidentally hit the flaps in cruise (don't ask ;)), sure enough it messed the flaps up and they were stuck down, so I had to make an emergency landing at the nearest field. When an addon like this gives you so much more than just a plane to fly, it really deserves a place on your HDD.I would also like to comment on the customer service, absoulutly top notch, I had problems with the download, and within minuetes I was connected "live" to a real person who sorted out my problem very quickly and very promptly, and this was on a saturday morning, morning in GMT, so I dread to think what time it was there ;).All in all the price of the addon is a small price to pay for what is packed into this package, plus you get great service on top, other payware companys could learn a trick or two from these guys. All that said, I will be first in line, credit card in hand, to buy the Cirrus. Thanks FFS, you have yourselves a VERY happy customer.CheersDan.
February 11, 200422 yr Thanks to this thread,That now makes it, Capatian Sims YAk / PMDG's B1900D and Now the plane in question in this Thread, and all in this Week!!. Madness, Ive got to stop this :(Dam I better Hide that CC Bill :)Jason
February 11, 200422 yr I've had the RV-7 a few days and it's great! It's the one aircraft I have that's actually a challenge to land. Keep an eye on that airspeed or you'll break something! Mine needs a wash - does yours?Beemer
February 11, 200422 yr I love the RV7! When I first got it during the beta, I couldn't even land the sucker(tail draggers are not my thing..) As it stands right now, my bill is pretty high, because of all the tires that I need to replace ;)I highly recommend this plane! I can honestly say that I have never even seen a plane in FS that can 'break' itself. The realism is astounding....
February 11, 200422 yr Hey guys,Thanks a lot for the comments, and we are happy to see that people are discovering the things that add to realism we have done on this package :D.
February 11, 200422 yr Author Hi everyone,If your tongues are hanging out for this one, be patient. I've just finished a live conversation with Fabio after having purchased this a/c and he tells me they are in the process of switching servers, so may take two or three days to get up and running again. I do have to say the service these guys are providing is quite superb! If you have purchased before discovering you could not link to the download, don't worry, your purchase is safe.Mike
February 12, 200422 yr Link to the FlightFactory-Simulations website for the download of this fine sounding bird please.
February 12, 200422 yr Author Do you know something we don't? I've just checked and there is still no d/l link to the a/c, i.e. no confirmation of purchase under Member Services/My Purchases. There does appear to be an active link to the POH, however. Haven't tried it yet........ Edit: have now (9-10MB File). Ah well, will have to suffice meantime :(Mike
February 13, 200422 yr Hey guys,The DNS change seems to have taken full effect now (we were moving web hosts, and had to wait for the DNSs to change), so everyone should be able to access it at www.flightfactory-simulations.com (or you can click on my signature ;)) and those who have bought it should be able to download. If not, contact us at our LiveHelp, accessible form the front page.
