popups driving me MAD!

Out of nowhere I get the same series of 10-15 popups, some of them trying to install something onto my computer without my permission. I tried adware but that doesnt solve it. I absolutely do not want to reinstall windows... A friend told me that will be the only option. Can someone help me, please?
