MS Flight requirements vs Aerofly FS

Recommended Posts

Came across something very interesting; Aerofly FS features:Everthing is realIn aeroflyFS you fly in a real environment. The entire 41,285 sq.km (15,940 sq.miles) of Switzerland are available down to a resolution of 40 in. Virtually all Swiss airports are equipped with landing strips, which are reproduced to their exact dimensions. Among them are numerous selected airports, which feature all hangars and buildings as well as correct taxiways. The scenery is displayed in such high resolution and photo realistic appearance making it basically impossible to distinguish from the air whether the scenery is virtual or real.Aerofly FS Requirements:Hardware-Requirements

  • Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon64 X2
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 24 GB free hard disk space
  • 3D graphic card with 512 MB
  • PC: Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7
  • Mac: Intel based Apple Mac computers running Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7

Please note: Because of the high-resolution graphics make sure that your computer meets or exceeds the specified system requirements. If your computer has a better graphics card than listed above, you will be able to enjoy an even better performance. In the event your computer has a somewhat lower graphics power than listed in the requirements you can reduce the demand on the graphic card directly in the program

hhmmm, 24gb for High resolution Switzerland only and 10gb MS Flight.

Looks like "Hawaii only" for Flight might be true after all.

40 inch resolution is incredibly high, covering 40,000 km2; that is where the 24GB comes from.

Especially if it's custom scenery...aka...not a lot of repeating/generic textures/objects. FS uses lots of generic scenery throughout the world.

'40 inch resolution is incredibly high, covering 40,000 km2; that is where the 24GB comes from.'True, but Hawaii is only 10,432km2, that's where Flight's requirement comes from.I'm not saying Flight will be restricted to 'Hawaii only' but if you want USA or Europe, or South America, or Mexico or what ever else, you have to pay extra $$Remember this WILL be a "Games For Windows" release.

But it does look like they use a lot of landclasses. That's generic, with some custom airports. It's hard to tell, though.

Flights requirements haven't been posted. What was posted where the specs of some test systems at the time running some kind of alpha. They are still hiring aircraft designers so what the final HDD requirement is for Flight can't be set in stone yet.People continue to read way to much into the 10gb number.
