My Creative Sound Blaster has been in and out about four times over that many years - and each time I used it I had FSX 'issues' that disappeared after its' removal.

I guess I have been fortunate, I run a Creative X-Fi Fatality Pro PCIe soundcard, has never caused me any issues with FSX or any other programs.

That is indeed MY card. grrrrrrrr

Does your new pc have onboard sound?If so, you might want to go into the bios, and make sure it is disabled. If it is not, that could cause some conflicts.
