January 2, 201214 yr Commercial Member Beside the "big name" brands I like to discover up & comers or small shops producing some nice entries. Comes to mind is Latin VFR's Key West and Pacific Simulations Marshall Islands and the Kingdom of Tonga. Also picked up 'Antartica' over the holiday sales which appears to real creative (waiting on my DVD). My fav's are FSDT and Fly Tampa who I can always count on for superb modeling and superb customer loyalty. But always do your research, read reviews, get feedback, install trials if available.Clutch Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) February 15, 201214 yr A few specific questions about specific payware airport sceneries, that I may buy:(If it's possible, please provide framerate information, in relation to Aerosoft's Mega Airport Amsterdam (Schiphol - EHAM), for comparison.)OrbX Melbourne 2.0 (YMML):- Does it need other OrbX sceneries for full functionality (night/day, lighting, everything)?- How good/bad is it on framerates? Also, for all the following airports, how good/bad are on framerates?- FlightBeam Studios----> KSFO- FSDreamTeam:----> PHNL (Honolulu)----> KDFW (Dallas Fort-Worth)----> KLAX (Los Angeles)----> KLAS (Las Vegas)----> KORD (Chicago O'Hare)----> LSGG (Geneva)- LatinVFR----> MDSD (Santo Domingo)----> SCEL (Santiago)- Greek Airports Project----> Rhodes International 2010 (LGRP)- UK2000----> Gatwick Extreme (EGKK) Edited February 15, 201214 yr by cptawsom
February 15, 201214 yr GEX has been giving me some pretty low frames on landingHelloGEX will not affect your FPS, if anything the better optimised autogen placement should help you.The GEX textures are exactly the same size as the default textures, just a straight replacement.UTX however has many features that will affect your FPS if you are not careful, such as the much greater freeway traffic densities.Run the UTX config tool and look at the cpu loads of each feature.
February 15, 201214 yr Diego you can try and download the demo for all fsdreamteam airports it give's you about 5 min to try it out after that the buildings and details disappear for me the best in scenery design are fsdreamteam flytampa flightbeam follwed by some other very good scenery designers not listed. and I believe JFK is getting in update by fsdt after Vancouver is released. February 15, 201214 yr Diego you can try and download the demo for all fsdreamteam airports it give's you about 5 min to try it out after that the buildings and details disappearI know that but you can't do any serious testing with 5 minutes. If they gave you 20, would be OK.You need just five minutes or more to set the basics for your testing scenario - which has to be from medium to worse -> aka dusk or dawn, some serious clouds and so on. There is no point in testing the framerate in daylight, with a completely sunny and spotless sky. Also you need at least another 3-4 minutes to load a take-off config and take-off to do the testing.5-minute demos are just a joke.

February 16, 201214 yr As far as airports go my signature reflects the products I support. I was given Sim Savvy photoreal for Xmas by my wife. I think it is absolutley amzing and I love flying with it. I know some people do not like photoreal but if you do this is the way to go. The developer could use the support so check it out. It is a big investment up front but well worth it in the long run. It also works well with add on airports. As far as airports go anything from FlyTampa, FSDreamteam and Flightbeam. ORBX scenry is top notch and so are their airports. I just spent the weekend flying around Australia which I have not done in a while. It was a real treat. LatinVFR did a decent KMIA. Mike Keigley
February 16, 201214 yr HelloGEX will not affect your FPS, if anything the better optimised autogen placement should help you.The GEX textures are exactly the same size as the default textures, just a straight replacement.UTX however has many features that will affect your FPS if you are not careful, such as the much greater freeway traffic densities.Run the UTX config tool and look at the cpu loads of each feature. The funny thing is that ever since I installed GEX after UTX, the FPS is lower. I did the install correctly. Ben B. I5 at 2.9 ghz, 8gb of RAM, and GTX 560 Overclocked 1gb
