I would pay 500$ for a licence, I just wish I could have it charged 10 or 25$ a month until its paid off, if my wife saw a 500$ charge for a flight simulator I would end up buried in the back yard :(
I spent $1000 NZD on PMDG manuals for the MD11 and NGX, I was buried in the back yard. :( :(

As for Orbx FSX will remain our core platform for at least 5-10 years
That's excellent news, John. Thank you for your continued support of our hobby with excellent products. You'll have my business for years to come.

Bill the FACTS are:the EULA allows use "only for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment.""the development licenses are for internal development use only. Deployed systems will require a full commercial license""13.3 Entire Agreement. This EULA, constitutes the entire agreement of Licensor and Licensee with respect to the subject matter of this EULA, superseding in all respects any and all prior proposals, negotiations, understandings, writings, communications and agreements, whether oral or written, between Licensor and Licensee."What may have been said elsewhere is meaningless - the EULA prevails.
Hard to see the wood when there is so many trees. But if you are a bush lawyer, maybe you can. If I am flying an aircraft in P3D, I have manuals on my lap, and I am using the sim in question, so I am using it as a training aid ?Your argument is flawed, and almost ludicrous to think LM and/or Orbx would line themselves up for legal action. With all due respect, think you have been watching to much TV.

I may of course misunderstood you as I'm not native english speaker (convinent evade everywhere :( ), but I considered this a bit harsh, if I understood it correctly:
English is my first language. I agree with you.So ... 9 pages, and what have we got:1. a quasi-legal discussion on what LM will let you do with P3D2. some X-plane developers wanting some content for their sim3. some beta testers for Flight, explaining ... that they are beta testers for flight...... now, what was the original topic about again? :(

Something about letting cats out of bags ? :(

I might be in the minority here but this: "As for Orbx FSX will remain our core platform for at least 5-10 years" as stated by the OP is super sad for me... I mean c'mon, what a slap in the face! and then /facepalm.There will never be any advances in this damn genre because Microsoft is stupid; Single developers too small to fund own sim; XPX Plane systems too simple... Are we serious here? Us simmers really have no where to turn? I wont be paying $500 for fsx 2.0! Maybe after I see the changes that dx11 will bring I will look into the $10/month thing. I feel like I'm at a dead end here. I haven't fired up FSX for prbly a year now, I have PNW by orbx and it's great but my fps is ###### and so I don't use it... I don't want to bash anything/anyone because I have lots of products for my fsx but I'm done and done with that sim, ready to move on but nowhere to go...Then I come on hear and read developers are preparing to stick to fsx and pr3d?!?!? I just wanna /wrist for ever joining this whole sim community thing!Boy oh boy am I ranting but I have never been so displeased or disapointed by a game/genre in my life! What a fail of a damn genre.... yuck! I apologize if it doesn't make sense to any of you... I'll shut up now and go back in my corner....side not: Aerosoft working on flight sim..... gonna go see if there's any updates...

Swifta, I hear what you are saying. It would be great if something came over the horizon that blew what we currently have out of the water and everyone got behind it but.. I guess that is not happening. Even if something was coming I suspect if you have really bad frames in fsx you will suffer the same in anything new. Maybe time for a computer upgrade and try some of the tweaks that are around. Not just graphical tweaks but graphical enhancements like the shader utility and a couple others. You might find you can get fsx in a state that you never recognised before.

Chill pill, chill pill...Fsx saw massive advances in 2011, many would consider it the best year ever.Current hardware will run pnw very sweetly.

Once again, sorry for my previous rant. I will give fsx one more shot before I give up completely on flight simming in general. Without turning this thread into a how to or help me can you pm me some sites that I can use to give this a fair try? My current specs are as follows... 2600k @ 4.6, 3x gtx 580s, win 7 64 bit, 2x 150gb ssd raid 0.... my fps should be great but last time I fired it up was same old BS over and over with huge dips into the teens at default ksea, let alone any addons.... see my frustration? I'm ready for a new sim... lol, just needs to get here!

You should get help in the fsx forum. yes, your fps should be good. Turn off sli, run your config through the online one documented in the fsx forum and if you are taking the ###### with that setup then stop that too! :)

Gerry, Lockheed-Martin's legal department gave the approval. They wrote the bloody EULA. Are you trying to out-lawyer them? You are now arguing simply for the sake of arguing. It's no skin off your nose, so once again......why do YOU care?
That's what I've been sying all along!. What matters is what the EULA states - nothing else. You've lost sight of my original point. I think we can all assume that the MS/LM agreement prohibits using P3D (ESP) for personal/entertainment purposes. If MS felt its intersts in Flight are being threatened by P3D being used for those purposes then I suggest it would have an arguable case against LM for breaching the agreement. The grounds for this would be that by selling P3D to anyone prepared (sorry!) to pay for it and simply relying on the wording of the EULA LM not taking effective steps to ensure it isn't being used for personal/entertainment purposes and was, in effect, concouraging it. John Nichol's reported comments could be cited in support of this. The outcome could be LM having to take action against developers using P3D for personal/entertainment purposes, which, you must agree, is clearly in breach of the EULA.

Gerry Howard

Well, the EULA states recreational use... But we are learning to fly and to follow the procedures in a proper way. Isn't that rather an educational use? ;)
