Attn: Dr. Zane Gard re: Turbine Duke

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for proper power settings for takeoff, climb (cruise climb is fine), cruise (normal) and descent with the RealAir Turbine Duke. With a forum search so far I've found:T/O: full power props 2200rpmclimb: full power props 2000rpmcruise: 950-1050 TQ props 1900rpm (1800 econ)descent? Are these proper?I've noticed I usually fly in FSX with almost max power but they setting are very high and not realistic. I'm starting to work on some basic instrument stuff and I want to know proper power settings for the phases of flight. Thanks for any help!

Hi Ryan,Sorry missed this post when you put it up.Use settings very similar to the King Air C90. Takeoff redline torque or ITT (depending on conditions) and 2,200 rpm. In the Turbine Duke it is so quiet you actually don't need to bring the props back but it you want bring torque to 1,100 passing through 1,000 AGL and props to 2,000 which should bring torque back up to 1,200. Use 1,200 torque max (or ITT if redline). Cruise around 1050 but watch airspeed, at lower altitudes easy to bust VMO and may require a lower setting, you're Ng should show between 91 and 92 pretty consistently at proper cruise settings regardless of altitude. For descent and approach remember 800, 500 or 300 for torque settings. These should pretty closely give your different settings for flying the approach procedure, descent, descent with gear down. Upon touching mains on ground push props forward and pull reverse thrust (if needed) till 60 KIAS at which time push forward to beta. She flies really nice in the sim.
