I notice some flickering in textures on the aircraft fuselage (PMDG 747). I have a GTX 260 and my computer specs are listed in my signature.I'm wondering if I would notice any improvement with an upgraded video card.My cpu is not overclockable, and i'm maxed out on the sliders.I recently had some problems with CPU overheating, but I fixed that by redoing the heatsink paste.Any suggestions welcome.Ron

I don't think so. FSX relies more on the CPU than the GPU (in FS9, that was the reverse). The PMDG 747 is a framerate killer on some systems. If you are not going to upgrade the CPU, then I would lower your FSX settings to the default and see if that stops the flickering. Maxing out your sliders is not advised with the PMDG aircraft.Best regards,Jim

Hi Ron,As Jim says if you are not going to upgrade or overclock your CPU then most of the benefits from having upgraded your video card will likely be marginal. Any video card can only go as fast as the CPU feeds it. My advice, think Ivy Bridge in April and see which video cards are testing the best in flight sim at the time. Today, a Sandy Bridge K or E model with a 580 GTX are still at the top of the heap.Kind regards,
