Is this just a sh*tty computer? Or does it have potential?

If you want to run NGX with a decent performance (15fps and up), do not go laptop, it's the only thing I can recommend you, no matter what anyone says. And no Alienware. Build yourself if you're on a budget. Otherwise you are throwing money away.

Lots of good advice here my friend. I suggest you heed some of the experts suggestions. FSX has changed dramatically in the past couple of years. In that time we have seen awesome sceneries from devs such as Orbx and hi def aircraft from Carenado and of course the wonderfully talented Mr NGX from PMDG :( To run any kind of rig in this sumptuous world of FSX you gotta be prepared to either run a low spec machine with very low autogen or a hi spec machine where you can get the most benefit from today's addons. The decision is your's, as they say :(

Ok! No Alienware! (:Where do I go than? I would like a laptop; desktops are SO overrated. And probably the reason why FSX runs that good on my system is it's really new.
I could not disagree more! I would never, ever have a laptop as my primary machine. You pay twice as much for the same performance and you are totally limited with regard to upgrading.I honestly don't see how this makes desktops "overrated". Not at all. If anything, laptops are SO overrated. Sorry but it's a ridiculous statement. No serious simmer uses a laptop anyway simply due to power and peripheral requirements. I would also never use a laptop as my primary work machine.Your system may be new but age counts for nothing. The specs are VERY poor.Alienware is just a silly name. You need to do some research and identify the individial parts that will give you a great FSX pc.And again, desktops are NOT overrated! Not nearly as much as laptops!Sorry if I seem a bit blunt but it seems you're not really believing us. Edited by TheBFG

Well, at least you'll be able to run FLIGHT with 45 FPS... :wink:I used to run FSX on an old Hp laptop, probably around 8 FPS tops...not fun. but I get like 12 FPS in Wing view in my current syste, so I have no idea how your doing that miracle...
