would have, could have, should have

Recommended Posts

I wonder what we'd be talking/writing about in these forums if XPX or FSX were 100% realistic and none of the many flaws in either product that have been mentioned/complained about so often existed? wouldn't this be a very sad and quiet place?and what would we do otherwise with the hundreds if not thousands of hours spent in our virtual cockpits. would we be lying underneath our cars and fix stuff that is not broken or screw with our HiFi rigs, as in the 70s? would we be all on CB radio or play with RC model aircraft? would we spend more time with friends or wifes, or go to operas and church more often? or waste time on TV, or end up as book worms?A friend of mine, a very talented musician who now plays in a band, once told me: had we as young children had access to all those toys and distractions that are in abundance today when I was a young teenager, I would never have learnt to play the accordion (through my grandfather) and keyboards later on. because it was hard and took a lot of effort. but there was not really much else we could have done without money.Imagine Mozart, the Beatles or the Stones had played flight simulator instead of composing great music. wouldn't that be awful?just wondering - while waiting for the next XPX beta update.

Hmm - on the other hand, hadn´t Sublogic fanned my enthusiasm for flying with the countless hours I spent on Flightsimulator II (and all iterations of Flight Simulator since then), I might have never endeavoured to make flying my profession. A job I love very much and that I look forward to doing every day.Plus I think that few people spend time with their kids on the playground because X-Plane has bugs and shortcomings - they are waisting their time posting here instead! :( .Still, a nice post and some valid thoughts!Jan

or play with RC model aircraft?
Yes please, anyday. I would much rather fly my RC planes and helicopters. Problem is, I live in a northern climate, where, for usually 5 months of the year there is close to, if not more than a foot of snow on the ground. So every year, between November and April, I'm stuck having to sit in front of this computer and fly. Is it fun, it's ok, but I much rather see my P51D zipping across the sky at 60 mph. Here's my latest creation, a 40" WS flying wing that ways close to 2 lbs, and should be capable of doing 100 mph with that motor, battery and esc. Maybe I should try to model it in Xplane, Goran where do I start (and don't say the obvious, Plane Maker, I know that). So, this for me is "as real as it gets", not sitting in front of a computer. :smile:Part of my "real" hanger.GlenP.S. The lucky prize goes to the first person that knows who flew that actual Mustang.

Glamorous Glen(nis)?C'mon. That's like asking who first set foot on the moon.I will say that I rather did enjoy the flight sim associated with his name back in the day on my Commodore...ChuckYeagerAFTC64DSK-h450.png

Get me some specs and I can show you some basics in Planemaker, over Skype, if you want.
