February 2, 201214 yr HiIs anybody on this forum running this set up with the PMDG ? I would like to run something past you.ThanksThis one will be very interesting to follow, because that is precisely the CPU+GPU combination I've opted for. Got the CPU, just waiting for the Golden Sample to be re-stocked. Rick Almeida
February 2, 201214 yr You could be waiting for a while as stocks of this excellent GPU card that walked away with the Custom PC mag awards are rather thin on the ground. That always happens when a product get a 5 Star Award.Hopefully, somebody will answer your prob before that. Edited February 2, 201214 yr by vc10man Rick Almeida

February 2, 201214 yr Author Hello JBI am just trying to find out how good this set up is. I am running GEX, UTX and REX2. At a payware airport like Heathrow ( I know it supposedly is a heavy hitter on FPS) I am only getting 15 FPS in the virtual cockpit in the PMDG on active runway. I can post my settings separately. My only question is someone on this forum with a similar overclock with a GTX 570 is getting over 3 times this framerate with the same settings. My question is is the 570 3 times better or is there someting wrong with mine. I have set up as per NickN guigde and used Bojote tweaks. Just want to get to the bottom of this once and for all. Thanks for replying.
February 2, 201214 yr If it is the Aerosoft London Heathrow, then it has long been known because it was a port-over from FS9, it is in fact heavy on FPS even with the best graphics card Rick Almeida

Try Van Nuys airport (KVNY) with frames unlimited and lined up rwy 34L and clear all weather. I'm also running 1900x1280 res on one monitor.JB Buzz313th
February 2, 201214 yr Author OK Thanks for replying.Gatwick and Charles De Gaulle payware also have 15FPSSettings are maxed out apart from low water x 2 and these aircraft settings. Its a bit hard to read, showing 35 FPS.
February 2, 201214 yr The i5 2500k/560ti is the most popular configuration on the forums. Especially over at PMDG's sub forums.I'm seeing better frames than you. What traffic are you using? What AA settings are you using? And what is your overclock? February 2, 201214 yr Like VC10man I'll be watching this with keen eyes as I've literally got a computer with those specs coming very soon!
February 2, 201214 yr Author Hello ZachI am overclocked to 4.3 Ghz, using FSX traffic, no AI add ons.
February 2, 201214 yr Hello ZachI am overclocked to 4.3 Ghz, using FSX traffic, no AI add ons.Okay. What payware airport? If it's Aerosoft's, I highly doubt your friend is maintaining 45 (3x15) FPS with high settings. Either way, set your anti-aliasing to 8xSQ and see what kind of performance you get then. Also, can we see a screeny of your display settings? If you're running Aerosoft's Heathrow, you can expect to make sacrifices for performance or suffer mid to high teens. (20 somethings in my case as I'm overclocked to 4.7GHz for FSX) ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
February 3, 201214 yr OK Thanks for replying.Gatwick and Charles De Gaulle payware also have 15FPSSettings are maxed out apart from low water x 2 and these aircraft settings. Its a bit hard to read, showing 35 FPS.Looks like your doing well..I don't run any AI traffic, and all my sliders are all the way to the right, except autogen at one notch from the right and water at 2x low I think and I am getting 40-45 unlimited in the same situation you are in with an OC of 4.0.Considering you are running AI traffic and ground vehicles and I am not and your 0.3 Ghz faster than my OC, I think you are doing just fine. There is a really easy test you can try to see if your bottlenecking at the GPU or your CPU/MB. Start FSX without a GPU OC and reference Frames. Then open inspector and OC the gpu. Go back into FSX and refrenece frames. If your frames are better than after the GPU OC, then you were Bottlenecked by the GPU. If they aren't, then you are currently Bottlenecked at the CPU/MB. Remember, the above test is not a global indication. It will only show results for that particular FSX session. A different addon that isn't as CPU hungry may very well make FSX GPU limited. The NGX for me is always CPU limited, but Carenado aircraft and I am GPU limited.JB Edited February 3, 201214 yr by Buzz313th Buzz313th
February 3, 201214 yr paul123, I notice that your Frame Rate Limiter is set to off when I recall Tabs recommending this to be set to 30 Rick Almeida
