paul123, I notice that your Frame Rate Limiter is set to off when I recall Tabs recommending this to be set to 30
He probably just has it off to benchmark performance. I'm sure once he finds the sweet spot he will turn the limiter back on.JB

This will not effect performance in regards to FSX. The only things it's helpful for are blurry ground textures (typically an issue on Core 2 and dual core systems) and FPS surges (an issue most modern hardware will have in external view).

Thanks for that elucidation, Zach. Never a day goes by when one doesn't learn something new.

Here are my settingsI am getting around 50 fps with your settings JBI ran the same settings at Seattle KSEAGetting around 42 fpsSecond part to follow

And ran Lisbon defaultGetting around 55 fpsBut what I have discovered is using a payware airport like Mega Airport Lisbon the frame rate drops from 55-25 fps. over a 50% drop using the same settings !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Perhaps like JB says this may be the GPU causing the bottleneck, Hope this thread may help some people decide. It would be interesting if anyone has a GTX 570 can compare results. I have a lot of payware add on airports to compare with.Paul

CPU bottleneck most likely. Have you tried the BP=0 tweak?

Dazz my knowledgeable friend will give it a go.

First impressions of this tweak to the fsx.cfg are amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,Adding Poolsize =0 to Bufferpools has increased framerates at KVNY benchmark from 45-60 !! and just tried at the payware Lisbon and framerates have increased from 25 to 42 FPS !!!Thankyou Dazz for this invaluable information for newbies like me to all this. My only slight concern is I did get an error message up saying something like that the graphics card was not up to requirements something something when I changed airports , I should of wrote it down.Brilliant Dazz, knowledgeable man ..........

Hi DazzAny chance you can PM me your .cfg with this tweak as I'm not too sure where it gets dropped in as the feedback is amazing.

[bUFFERPOOLS]UsePools=0 It's a category in itself, so you can place it at the very beginning of the fsx.cfg for example

Thank you very much.

Many get artifacting using the pools=0 tweak. (I do) In that case, using the rejectthreshold/usepools=1/Poolsize= tweak is best.
Double Thanks, Zach, for that HU.

Rick... Sounds like your doing well then..Unless you enjoy tweaking, just set a performance goal and then set up your hardware and software to meet that goal. Or you may spend a large portion of your sim time tweaking instead of flying.Persoanlly, my goal was a locked smooth 30FPS. I met that goal with a 4.0 OC and I haven't looked back.JB

Hi JackI've not quite got around to setting up a rig with the i5-2500K CPU+NVidia GeForce GTX560 Ti combo as I'm still awaiting stocks of the 560Ti, and as I'm still using 285 drivers, I do not have that option line to set the Frame Limits to 30. Apparently it is available only in the 290 drivers update.I'm not that much of tweaker. I just am keen to get decent FPS like most of us here. And by following these threads, I'll be ready when my 'dream rig' finally starts coming out of the packaging to be assembled.
