What airports should I buy?

Featured Replies

For the moment, I have the following aircraft, on FSX:- PMDG 747-400X (and 8i extension)- PMDG 737NGX (and 700/600 extension)- Airbus X (I will buy the v2 when it gets out)I will also buy the PMDG 777X when it comes out.For the moment, I enjoy flying the 747-400X much more than anything else.So I was thinking about some payware airports that could be used as great "bases" to visit other airports. For the moment, I only have FlyTampa Athens, and Aerosoft's Mega Airport Amsterdam X (Schiphol).I am looking for your advice to buy a few (no more than four or five) airports, if possible evenly dispersed around the globe, that are large, with at least two runways very near or at 4km length, and with double or triple jetways to serve large aircraft (B747, A380) on two doors simultaneously (or even three, with an upper deck door), when I enable full AES on them.I was thinking about:- Imagine Simulation's Singapore Changi for FSX (WSSS)- Imagine Simulation's Hong Kong for FSX (VHHH)- FS Dream Team Honolulu (PHNL)- FS Dream Team JFK (KJFK)- FS Dream Team Los Angeles (KLAX)However, I am a little reluctant to spend my money on these since I have no opinion on their quality, and how good (or bad) they are on framerates. That is why I am asking for your opinion.

Get Imaginesim airports only as World Airports 3 & 4. They are over priced as individual purchases.FSDT, Fly Tampa, & FTX is where I turn when I want the best airports.

Anything FS Dreamteam and FlyTampa are great. I've purchased many imaginesim airports and I'm not a fan. They're better than default but that's it!FYI, MegaAirport PANC is really nice too.

That is not really fair on Imaginesim. True they offer very little or no support at all, but their product is pretty good. I bought the WSSS scenery and I am happy with it apart from a few issues I have mentioned on here. The quality is much better than default! Only have disappearing jetways at a distance. There is a scenery for Singapore called 'The Very Singapore', and Imaginesim's scenery is much better!!!! And the Developers for The Very Singapore have 'disappeared'!!Daniel

EGLL (Heathrow) from UK2000 if you want a large base in the UK. Given how much praise FSDT is getting on this thread I would personally rate UK2000 airports even higher - I have 2 FSDT airports and whilst very good, they're not quite on a par with the UK2000 ones.

Should you start flying more in Europe then you already know the quality of the Aerosoft Mega Airport Series. The list is long and distinguished. You can also watch for sales from time to time and pick up several. FDST has some loops to jump through to figure out what is really on sale but it is worth the effort to get some really improved airports for 50% off. Aerosoft seems to have 20% off sales for most any occasion.I agree with the post above that EGLL from UK2000 should be your next purchase in Europe. As a stopping place, FSDT's PHNL is also a great improvement.Ray

Agree with all the above. FSDT are fantastic as is FlyTampa and UK2000. If you wanted anyother one too look at you could try YBBN or YMML from Orbx.

I am using it in FSX, but the FSDreamTeam KJFK I bought for FS9 really changed things for me! My jaw literally dropped open! FS9 still has some really good qualities compared to FSX. But most stuff seems to be developed for FSX now.Daniel

Yes, I do know, on both counts.

Curious. I can only see a 15% discount.

So you consider UK2000's Heathrow better than SimWings'-Aerosoft's Mega Airport Heathrow? PS: I know first-hand that FlyTampa's work, and Aerosoft's Mega Airport, are always very good.

Sorry, I did not mean the 50% off sale is today. Just from time to time for no obvious reason. You just have to hear about it from the forums or get on some type of newsletter distrubution.Ray

We never had a 50% sale, it's usually more like 30% on special occasions, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, etc. And, there's always a 15% discount if two or more products are bought together
