You both will make the upgrade. I bet Word Not Allowed and Dario do, too. I know I will.

Me quite probably not. This year I'm into upgrading my external hardware - PFC Yoke, my table cabling (oh yea, I did a very nice DIY job of my room cabling, which wasn't an easy task to do, considering how much electronics I have here), clean floor now and planing a new screen (HP ZR24W or ZR2440W, or a Dell U2410) and rudder pedals. I promised myself no more than about 1000€/year of a general hardware upgrades. Software excluded. So this covers this year's budget. IB would make my dear very very angry.I'll skip the new internal hardware now, except if this one dies, as much V I'm pumping in it...

I'd be interested in seeing that job. I spend many hours tidying up my cables behind my desk and zip tying them to keep them out of view, but I still hate the cables!

I don't want to get caught up in something like the P67 recall this time around. By the time it all settles down for Ivy Bridge, there should be plenty performance & overclock reports to make an informed decision. Going from AM3 to P55 I got a 25% perf boost. From P55 to P67 about a 35%. It's gonna be hard to justify the upgrade if it's not at least a 20-30% faster. Then there's PCIe 3.0. Leaked Kepler prices seem a bit steep, so I might wait there too instead of paying the premium price for a new release

Upgrading to IB will be extremely dependent on how much I can expect to get for my current setup. I just found out today that microcenter has been selling 2600k's for $230, so my hopes are suddenly a little lower. I would be happy to "upgrade" to the i5 IB and Asus Z77 Pro board instead of the Deluxe equivalent of what I currently have and call it even. BUT, I've also been debating on a new monitor and cooling system and the Dell U2410 has certainly caught my eye.

I thought the whole P67 recall was kind of fun, really. It didn't hinder me in anyway and I got to try both ASUS' and Gigabyte's offerings. By the time it all settles down for Ivy Bridge, Haswell is going to be out!15954714_intelhaswelllaunchdate_dh_fx57.jpeg
