I reckon that's true. But there again, my introduction to aviation was via building propeller driven aircraft out of balsa wood and paper - powered by a rubber band. The livery was done with a kind of paint called dope which smelled like nail varnish. It gave me hours of pleasure as a young boy. Flying was done in spot view and never lasted very long. Great fun though and it has left me with a penchant for GA flying.
peanut aircraft, then U-control, then going to A LOT of civilian and military airshows - great times growing up!

But I prefer technical and demanding, if something is too easy it is not worth doing.
......unless you are more interested in an "atmospheric experience" than a "challenge". This is why I am now bored of standard FPS games. There is too much emphasis on shooting and lightning fast reflexes to progress. I prefer to have lots of time to explore interesting locations, and discover clues and items that will help me to move forward in the game. Combat is fine, but not when it is forced on me every single step of my journey.

Hello christopher. You are going to love tracking down all of the Aerocaches in MS Flight, racking up points to unlock the next livery for your Stearman :(

That isn't quite what I meant :(

It's going to be hard to get "kids" to be excited about flying an Icon or Stearman or any other prop plane. Anyone (and that's most of everyone) has played the Call Of Duty or Battlefield game series and has commanded tanks, fighter jets, etc. Now take that experience, the excitement of blowing stuff up, the attention span of a gnat that people have these days and then put a slow Icon in front of them and see how excited they get.

I thought that's why MS added more coin collecting and aerocache hunting in the first place. How much more boring would it be to portray flying as simply programming a FMC, takeoff, hand off everything to the AP, and then lay back just to dial in some numbers.

I get the feeling the aerocache stuff is just there to encourage people to explore a bit. What's the point of creating scenery that detailed if people aren't going to get up close and explore it?
