question for Flight supporters - what you do think of the DLC prices?

Recommended Posts

Hi,I am curious to hear feedback from those people such as myself who are enthusiastic supporters of Flight. What do you think of the announced prices for the DLC?Personally, the prices are a little bit higher than what I was hoping for, however this won't influence my purchasing - if I want the add-on I'll buy it anyway. But for the prices as published, I would expect the quality and level of detail to be consistent with that of the base product. This being the case, I will be quite happy to sink several hundreds of dollars into the game if it means having a number of small specialised scenery areas made to the exact same quality standards as Hawaii.

Frankly, I am ready to pay $200 or even more for a good flight simulator. What I'm not going to do is paying it piece by piece for basic items like world coverage - even if with relatively low details. Nor I want to be forced to buy them from a single source that requires an account on a service like Live!.MS is trying to force a model that may work for "games" (maps and other items) on something that is totally different. I need to fly where I like on the plane I want, not where they think is "cool". I am ready to pay for that - I understand development costs. But I will pay for a simulator that fits my needs, and I do not really care about missions or points or whatever. "Flight" looks a "FSX for dummies", and even if they give away everything for free I will spend my money elsewhere.

Ok, but the question was aimed at supporters of Flight. Could I just have responses from those people please. Thanks.

I had read that thread, however, like the content of this forum itself, 98% of it consists of Flight Bashing, with the remaining 2% of the content not specifically addressing the question. I was thus hoping to have a thread that had some value throughout, rather than having to wade through hundreds of posts that are of zero value to anyone actually interested in playing the game and buying the content. It would be good if we could actually have three flight sub-forums. One for the news, one for people to bash the game and Microsoft whilst venting their hate, anger, frustrations and disappointment, and a third forum that would actually be of some interest and practical use to players of the game.

I'm certainly disappointed at the DLC pricing. I was expecting somewhere between a third to half of the actual pricing. However I'll probably fork out for the Hawaii pack & RV6 as well as the Maule for about £20. Beyond that I'll sit on my hands and see what DLC will be available, when it will be available and how much it will cost. After all I still have FSX for when I want to fly in the UK.

Give people power to really test their personality.

+1 on a separate forum - this one is used up.-----------It's impossible for me to say if the price is on target. I will buy the content (except for the exterior only P-51) and see how I feel after using it for a bit. Kinda like going to a fancy restaurant - 22oz Bone-in Ribeye $49 - only after I eat it can I tell you if it was worth it :)

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I guess I had the Rise of Flight pricing model in mind and can't help drawing comparisons. There you can get an aircraft for considerably less and arguably of similar or even higher quality. Though I can also understand that the production costs at Microsoft would be considerably higher than those associated with Rise of Flight. In any event, I actually figure that for around $100 I would be able to have a flight game similar in scale to how I use FSX now, but of much higher quality, so it's still a win for me personally.Perhaps what I like best though is that it seems the individual scenery areas are going to be relatively compact - meaning optised for relatively short VFR flights and hopefully of the same quality we have seen with the beta. I don't mind at all paying a premium for that, since it is always how I have used FSX, but with all the advantages of the new game over the old one.

Having read through these forums for the past few days... you'll only get 5 or 6 replies max ? And if you only ask 'supporters' of Flight, you'd already know the answer, or they wouldn't be supporter.I think this is called 'logic'. :(

No, it's actually called you (and not me) not putting any thought into your replies, let alone my original question and instead spamming this forum with your immature cry-baby drivel. I used to respect you over the years, but now I think you are simply a cry-baby just like the other 98% of members here at Avsim. Why a person with such a love of VFR flying as yourself chooses to come onto this forum and bash a game specifically designed to enhance that very experience is as bewildering as it is suspicious. If only you had the capability to act a tenth of your real age. Edited by JonP01

The above says nothing about me, and all the more of yourself my friend ;-) But, have it your way and enjoy :(

You ask for "Flight Supporters" and now that you see there are very few or none at all you want to bash someone who has been in this hobby for years. Oh never mind I see you have not been here 2 months yet.

HelloThe other 98% have been getting on fine here for many years (well sometimes) sorry you don't like it here.

I think they're a little steep, enough that I'll have to think carefully about what I buy, but not enough to stop me from buying altogether.I'm already sitting on a pretty big stockpile of Live points, I'd probably just end up wasting them anyway.

You and I using Flight-simulator for flying an airplane. Francois Dumas using Flight-simulator for other things. Thats why.
