February 22, 201214 yr It all depends on what you want. Carenado, for example, have better GA planes.Just Flight better "jump in and fly"-planes.Hope you get my point.
February 22, 201214 yr It's not always fair to be comparing either. Everyone knows the level of PMDG quality is high above others. By no accident .But does that make others bad. Of course not and its not sensible to compare them. Every new develepor release always gets the "Compared to the PMDG analogy" It doesn't take a rocket scietist to see the PMDG quality is much better. Like comparing a Ferrari to a Chevy Malibu. Both are good in their own sense or comparing you High Fashion Model ex wife to your current farm girl wife! Both have beauty :) WOW had to add that real quick. :( Edited February 22, 201214 yr by Barnstormer1 ArDee
February 23, 201214 yr I would take a different view. I would suggest that to compare PMDG with (e.g.) Caranado is like comparing a Ferrari 355 to a Ducati 916. Both are magnificant. Both do the same job of getting you from A to B in a way you will never forget. Both are sexy as sin. Each has advantages over the other, but neither can be said to be 'better'. Paul Smith.

February 23, 201214 yr I am flying my first fully 3D flight today in my much-loved PMDG 747-400X on my new megarig. What a superb job PMDG made of this plane back then!Fortunately for us simmers, the simming market is quite competitive, even for PMDG and the B744. February 23, 201214 yr I think I posted earlier, but I want to share my thoughts again. The first pay-ware aircraft I ever bought was the 1900D for FS9. I was blown away then. Fast forward to a few years ago with the JS4100, and now the NGX, PMDG keeps on raising the standard for flight sim add-ons. The only developer that comes close to PMDG is A2A. The specialize in old, military airplanes and the quality is great, especially when combined with their Accusim module. However, I still feel PMDG has the edge. I very cautiously spend money on other FSX add-ons, but in the end, I just come back to PMDG's products. Jared Listinsky

It will take you up to the next league. When you get comfortable with that, try the JS4100. Only then should you get the NGX. Paul Smith.
February 24, 201214 yr Hi Smiffy!I am a dedicated B744 driver. Have been since the publication of PS1. Just waiting for their next offering.Cheers, Richard Cheers, Richard Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.2 GHz, 16 GB memory, 1 TB SSD, GTX 1080 Ti, 28" 4K display Win10-64, P3Dv5, PMDG 748 & 777, Milviz KA350i, ASP3D, vPilot, Navigraph, PFPX, ChasePlane, Orbx
February 25, 201214 yr There is one thing that I want to add about PMDG, and I am not sure whether it is relevant or within the rules of the forums (if it breaks the rules then please delete it with no hard feelings from my side), but after my computer crashed a while ago and I had to get a new hard drive, I installed only the PMDG 747 400X, JS 4100, and recently the 737 NGX, as well as the Level D767. Since then, I have never had an instance of that indescribably annoying FSX has suffered a Fatal Error CTD nuisance. It may very well just be a curious coincidence, or I am talking too soon and FSX has a nasty surprise lying in wait for me, as apart from switching the hard drive and upgrading the RAM, I made no other hardware changes. I would be interested to know whether anyone else is using only PMDG products and/or the Level D 767 and is experiencing the same lack of FSX Fatal Error CTD.Could the quality of PMDG's products in some way enable FSX to operate without suffering this famous Fatal Error CTD? February 26, 201214 yr Which 'famous' FSX fatal errors are you talking about? My guess is that you had a screwed up system (hence the crashes) that a clean re-install has resolved.I have a little bit of everything on my system and I get an occaisional CTD when ending a flight from two well known products. There are a couple of other aircraft I can make crash by feeding garbage into the FMC or similar, but I would have to say that I consider my system to be pretty stable and it has a lot more then just PMDG on it. You may very well be right, I tried every suggestion out there on how to resolve the issue to no effect. I switched to FSX Acceleration quite a while before the computer decided to go in search of greener pastures elsewhere, and within days of installing FSX Acceleration and all the add ons, that problem resurfaced. Since replacing the harddrive (upgraded the ram to 8GB in the process), with only PMDG and LevelD running, that hasn't happened now for several months. Would you say that it might be safe to try adding back some of the others, considering that the computer's performance now seems to be, for the moment, more stable? If so, that would be great, but in all honesty, I am somewhat anxious over it as I am quite enjoying the extended run of being able to do a YSSY - FAJS flight without having to come back in the morning and find myself staring at a turned off computer.
