February 10, 201214 yr Hi all, consider the below as a brainstorm to get a more wider field of planes in the racehistorical races where not all about breakneck speed, but also about how much mail could be carried since mail and cargo was the reason for the excistense for aircraft operators.would it be nice to have this element been brought into the race, where as an amount of cargo gives the plane a bonus minutes?example how much cargo should be equal to minutesbreakneck speed fighter plane 200 miles at 10000 gives a travel time of 30 mincargo plane with 30 ton cargo gives travel time of 60 min difference = 30 min so each ton = 1 min per 200 milesif we repeat this for the mostpopular planes we have an averagejust a thought but it might attract the cargo jockeys flying constellations etc into the race or have a 747 full cargo across the ocean instead how the realistic of total empty aircraft with one pilot and fuelspeakingof fuel since this is no cargo you can have a differcult decision to make how much fuel compared to cargo?good thing is that we could decide not to haul cargo at all and purely win the race on speed as is the case now.best regardsleon https://www.dropbox.com/s/t1i2ps64jvzuzdp/Leon.png?dl=1
February 10, 201214 yr Around the middle of the year Sim Outhouse hosts a race similar to this. It changes from year to year but cargo has been a factor a few times. It's a couple of years since I participated in this race so some of the other guys may be able to give you more up to date info. Mike Beckwith
February 10, 201214 yr Leon,Cargo flying was featured in the Clutch Cargo event last June at SOH.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?54706-Clutch-Cargo-Andean-Airways&p=596546&viewfull=1#post596546A lot of fun. There is usually a similar type event every year and it is announced in all of the forums. The primary goal of the RTWR has been flying fast around the world. It might be hard to get a consensus regarding adding a cargo component to this race. | Windows 11 | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | i9-14900K | RTX 4090 | 64GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 | 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | 2x 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | CORSAIR AX1600i ATX Titanium | LG C2 42 Inch 4K OLED |
February 10, 201214 yr I like the idea of inserting somce additional cargo aspects to the race. The team kick-off events usually involve some sort of cargo. For example, I think it was in the '06 race that we re-enacted the Berlin Airlift, and each team had to move certain amounts of supplies (coal, water, food, etc.) from a number of different places into Berlin. We all used DC-3s. That was my first race, and I really enjoyed the immersive aspect. The cargo requirement just doesn't seem to carry over into the rest of the race.I think it might be fun if it was added in for certain legs, such as the trans-continental jumps, maybe as a bonus for transporting something to a particularly challenging airport as an incentive or reward for choosing it. Or maybe cargo could be included in some of the other team flights, with a bonus for tonnage moved. Just thinking out loud here. Craig Taylor
February 10, 201214 yr Clutch Cargo was a lot of fun. Flew into a lot of interesting airports in South America with heavy loads. KBJC AMD 3900 / RTX 2060 Pro
