MS admits loyal FS fan can jump off a bridge

Featured Replies

The fatal flaw in that assumption is that the vast majority of casual simmers (and also many hard core simmers) actually only fly in their own corner of the world wherever that may be.Having one's "backyard" represented in a sim has always been part of the attraction with a world wide sim!How many casual simmers have HLN as ther "home" airport?
When I started with FS, you got 4 areas, Boston, NY, Chicago and Seattle... yet it planted the seed that continues to this day... give this new seed a chance to grow, too.

I don't follow the logic... With your analogy, are you suggesting we forget about the fully grown fruit bearing tree we have today and go back to when that tree was just a seed? Then what? Wait for another fully grown tree to evolve, which is exactly where we were before we had to go back to the seed?

Maybe the title should read "Loyal fan admits MS can jump off a bridge"?

I don't see where anyone is asking you to give up the "fully grown fruit bearing tree" you already have today... Clearly, in MS view, Flight is not a continuation of THAT tree, but a new, independent planting (to continue the metaphor) designed to add another option to the original, that I'm sure they hope will expand the market for it's "fruit".

Well, yes: If you want the benefits of nextgen scenery and performance Flight is supposed to offer, then yes, you do have to give-up FSX, for if you stick with FSX you won't get those Flight benefits (apologies for the redundant writing. I'm just anticipating someone answering "well you still have FSX".)Cheers,- jahman.

^ This exactly.

It is going to be a pretty long time before Flight will be able to replace FSX . . . it would have to include all that FSX includes, and it would have to do all those things better than they are done in FSX. That may or may not ever happen. In my opinion, Flight already does some things better than FSX, but it is still a sapling (to continue the metaphor yet again), so it cannot compare in many ways to all that we now have with FSX. I plan on using both MS fightsims, and will continue to support Flight, since I view it as an expansion of what is available to us.

but it is still a sapling
That has plans of growing into a massive oak. :(

So, why don't we all just DL the flight "demo" and pack it away until if/when it grows and proves to be a viable forest of "flora" Why should we spend money on fertilizerfor for a plant that has a serious genetic flaw and as far as we know, will only grow on few pacific islands? A wise farmer and never plants seeds/plants unless he knows for shure it will grow to maturity unless he/she has (disposible) money and time to experiment with it.

Dammit Jim Joe, I'm a Doctor Flightsimmer, Not a Mechanic FarmerIt is called investing in our hobby.Personally, I'll continue flying the heck out of Flight. If you want to just "pack it away" until there's enough DLC to finally satisfy you, that's your business.
