Why does my FPS fluctuate so much with water at Low 2.x

Featured Replies

Hey guys,Hopeing somebody might be able to help me out here. I reformated the FSX machine, reloaded FSX with Acceleration on Win 7 64bit and then ran it thru Bojete's fantastic tunner. Everything's great. Loaded up REX and installed the REALITY theme for some great textures. All was great. Sitting at FSDT's KJFK with full AI I'm getting 25-28 FPS in the NGX. So I launch myself south out over the water and all hell breaks loose. In the 3D cockpit frames remain pretty steady at around 30 FPS but if I switch to spot view and pan out so I'm looking over the water m FPS fluctuate between 9 and 70 quickly causing a great deal of stutters. If I pan and look back over land I get a good steady 35-40 FPS with no stutters. This only occurs if I've got water set to Low 2.x If I set it to High 1.x all is good and frames rocket up to about 70-mega_shok.gif FPS with no stutters..Any advice guys? I've tried different REX themes but its all the same. It only happens in spot view.....Cheers,

Thanks for the tips guys - I'm look at the external frame rate limiter. I thought perhaps it might be an inherint problem with FSX and water at high resolutions but perhaps notCheers,

Interesting Kael some of the guys here lock there frame rates it might not solve it in certain systems since they can be so different but its worth a shot.
