Initial Review of FightCraft A330-300

Featured Replies

Wow! What a great visual model. This is pure genius... perfect Gmax architecture, very kind on the frame rate, and great special effects such as wing vortices and strobes.I'm using FS2002 for this review, so if this was not FlightCraft's intention, sorry... it did not say so in the readme file. The A330-300 in the GE configuration is excellent. No problems with the flight dynamics, and as a specialist myself, I must say that these are the best you'll find. Blows POSKY and iFDG both out of the water! Well done! The A330-300 in the PW configuration has a fault in the Aircraft.cfg file that makes the plane sink and crash on game start. The problem is that there are 2 entries for contact points in the file. The first section maps 11 points and is the bogus one. It can be deleted to fix the problem. The second section with 9 contact points is the correct one.The A330-300 in the RR configuration is not selectable... this is because the fltsim.XX section is blank in the aircraft.cfg file. Those of you who know how to edit this section will not find this to be a problem. Hopefully it will be fixed in the final release.I cannot say enough good things about this model. Absolutely stunning guys!Just one note on the panel... where are the altitude callouts on final approach??? Also, where are the wingviews and the VC in the A330-300 preview release?Other than those minor points which I am sure will be fixed very soon, I give this a 9 out of 10. For a preview release, this is just awesome! I'm off to test the A330-200 now!-- Bryan (Outer Marker)

>>Blows POSKY and iFDG both out of the water! Well done!>iFDG dont have an A330 :-roll ..on and if we are out of the water where are we exactly....in the sky? :+

I tried to download it several times. I get either corrupt file of unknown compression method messages and the installation text file cannot be opened. The Avsim File library text file in the same zip is readable.Regards

Windows XP cannot read the compressed file for some reason or other. If you use winzip it unzips and loads OK.Andy b

Thanks for the info. It was ok with Winzip. Ive seen a few mentions around the forums about the gauge not loading. It will not load for me. I checked the date and it is the 15th Nov 03 version 2.2.0.9. Finally the FS sound.dll will not immediately load either. Any thoughts appreciated.Regards

For the gauges to load correctly you need to download Eric Marciano's lastest update for the A330 (A330 Bug fix) available on his websitehttp://emarciano.flightsimmer.com/

Hey Thanks for the comments,Hope you enjoy the preview versions. The final will blow your socks off. HAHATake careBWIA330

Can you make the final version a non-exe file? It looks really promising and I was going to download it till I seen it was an exe. I prefer to put things together myself.

Just have the installer point to a folder (temp), then cut and paste into FS. Works just fine.

Were are the wing views?

>Blows POSKY and iFDG>both out of the water! Well done!Read the FC A330 readme. Anyway, I've tried the RR version with the Virtual Cockpit. The RR engine nacelles have various gaps in them that need to be closed, but other that that the model looks great. Since this is only a preview version it's too early to make a final judgement on it.VC looked great, exterior model murders my FPS but that's my weak video card's fault.

Yes this is a very good visual model of the A330, however like many other VC's the gauges are unreadable from a reasonable distance. In my opinion a VC is useless if I have to sit on top of the panel to read the gauges. There have been few designers both freeware and payware that have been able to achieve having readable gauges will sitting back in the captains chair. My hope here is not to disparage Flight Craft, but to challenge them in achieving what so few have yet to achieve.Bill

The Gauges we used were from Eric Marciano and those are by far the best Freeware gauges available sofar..and i dont really understand y u have this feeling of unreadable gauges...maybe it is cause u dont have antianalising or anisotrophic filtering turned off... just a guess.. as mine are sharp... of course when u zoom full out u cant read them as this position is by far the most unrealistic...the position we used is set in the almost right position... maybe move it back a lil but NOT ZOOM out... just move the pilotview a lil backwards.anyway glad u like our A330..best regards Sascha JelackFlightCraftp.s.: name one freeware aircraft with full readable gauges from very far distance...

Hi Sascha,I think your missing my point, the distance I spoke of is from the captains seat and not further. I do have antianalising filtering turned off and my resolution is set to 1280x1024x32. And maybe by moving the pilotview back alittle it will get me closer to what I'm looking for, however I have not tried that yet. A while ago I purchased Wilco's Airbus and let me say that yours blows their's away by far. And yes I do agree with you that Eric's gauges are the best out there for freeware and possibly payware. I guess all I'm asking for is that the default pilotview for the VC be set back further for greater view of the panel without degarding the gauge reability.Bill

the thing is that the gauges are fixed to their position...regarding the view we will consider a lil more backward position...best regardsSascha JelackFlightCraft CEO
