Repeated generation of file indexes on FSX start up

Featured Replies

Some time ago, I can hardly remember it, I copied the whole of my fsx files to a different disk partition with a differrent letter. I also at some time or other installed additional scenery,Though I used the availabile utitlity to alter what I think was the registry entry to reflect the new disk letter, whenever I load up fsx it takes far longer than normal as on each occasion it spends time on what it calls:'generating scenry file indexes'and then'buildng database for new files'I would be gratefulf for suggestions as to what I should do or look into in order to rectify things,Best wishes, John M.

Hello John!See if the problem can be solved through the following links- http://forum.avsim.net/topic/331400-please-help-my-fsx-rebuild-data-base-each-time-on-runing/page__p__1953659#entry1953659-http://forum.avsim.net/topic/335735-scenery-building-every-time-i-start-fsx/page__p__1982269#entry1982269It may be a simple scenery.cfg error. Check if the numbers correspond to each scenery entry, and that there are no duplicates. If this doesn't work, perhaps if you can please share your scenery.cfg on the forum?Sorry, this is all the help I can do for now :)Regards,Clem

You can also go here and get this fix as well...http://library.avsim...php?DLID=166123Two more notes here, one for the rsc v2 and one for the issue you're having.First, rsc V2 : There's a setting on the Syntax Settings dialog where you can turn on or off reporting of local and remote paths that don't have a value, that is, anything after and equal sign.If you get a whole bunch of syntax errors where the message is "NoValue" and the Name is "Remote" then place a checkmark next to the "Ignore remote with no value" checkbox on the Syntax Settings dialog and they'll dissappear.Second, see if there are any other .CFG files in the same folder that you're Scenery.cfg file is in. Maybe there's a file named NewScenery.cfg and if so, crack open the file and see if the "Local=" parameters have paths which are the ones giving you grief :)Hope that helps!Mark
