New South African (FAJS) scenery crashes FS9

Featured Replies

I downloaded and installed the new Johannesburgh freeware scenery (worx01.zip) and when I click on the "fly now" button FS will load to about 45% then crash. I deleted the scenery and FS9 is working just fine now I an just warning anyone else who downloaded this scenery that FS2004 will crash.(At least it did when I tried the scenery)If anyone who has this scenery and FS2004 works, do you know why my FS2004 crashes after I installed the scenery?

Scenery works fine for me. I installed it into Addon Scenery as I do with all my sceneries but no idea if this effects a possible crash. Toby

Thats where I put all my sceneries too, in the Addon Scenery folder. Maybe I will try it again tomorrow. How does the new scenery look Toby?

I don't know how the real airport looks like, but besides the missign real world comparision I think the scenery is very nice. Especially the Intl. Terminal looks very good. No runway and taxiway signs for now, but I believe this release is meant to be "beta" with a final release to come. The ground textures appear a bit to colorful for my taste, but that's up to personal preference.Toby

Did you install the texture files that belong in the World/Texture Folder as per the instructions?

>Did you install the texture files that belong in the>World/Texture Folder as per the instructions?Yep those textures are in that folder.

If the scenery is using any DXT3 textures, make sure you have "Render to Texture" chosen in your display options. Scenery, clouds, etc may cause MSFS to crash with DXT3 textures when you have this option turned off...-John

I have an invisible building crash here when sitting at the ramp - I have notified the author. But I also have IBC's at several other addon airports, namely Malta (Chircop), Inchon(Lee) and Castlegar(Opperman), all at gates or close to the buildings. I have not seen complaints about these elsewhere so I have to wonder if it is anything in my set-up. I was going to post a general query but this seems an opportune topic, but I couldn't find anything in the string that related to my issue. My get-around is to turn crash detection off but that is cheating!NigelVancouverMy System:AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton)Gigabyte GA 7VAX mobo Albatron GEForce4 Ti 4200P Turbo128MB video card (53.03drv)1Gb Samsung PC2100DDR RAMIBM 40GB 7200rpm hard driveMaxtor 20GB 7200rpm hard driveCreative Sound Blaster PCI128 with latest driversCHProducts PCI yoke and pedalsWindows XP Home edition with SP1DirectX 9.0(:(Three case fans - one suck, two blow

Was told by Johan (the author) that yes, there were invisible crash points. An update for FAJS is on its way, so check the library regularly. Meanwhile, turn off crash detection when flying in that area. Don

Has this been solved yet? Kind regards/mattias

Have you applied the fix? If you search on the avsim library for download ID 47684, file name worx01a.zip, you will find it. Also includes rwy/taxiway signs and fixed building crash. Has been available since April 2004!It works fine on my machine with render to texture OFF. AFAIK it is not DXT3 scenery....
