FSX Default C172SP "Red and Gold" shows up all white

Featured Replies

Folks,I've had FSX installed for almost a year, but just noticed that the stock C172SP's last paint scheme ("Red and Gold" when I select "show variants") shows up with an all white aircraft. I dug through the aircraft's skins folder, and noticed that the thumbnail also seems to show a plain white aircraft. Is something porked in my install? I haven't ever done anything in the C172SP folder, so I don't know how I could have screwed something up.I'm running in DX9 with ENB mod enabled (not DX10).Thanks!edit - it also appears that once I select that texture, all my other C172SP textures will show up white until I exit the game and restart...?

I found this, but that seems very odd...http://www.simforums.com/forums/lost-paint-scheme-on-default-172-in-fsx_topic41020.html

Hmmm... I'll give the reboot a try later if I remember. It's strange though, that the thumbnail for the texture shows an all-white paint scheme, since I assume that someone had to grab that image and save it there at some point. For now, I just commented () out that variant in the .cfg file.

Open up the aircraft.cfg for the Cessna - check that each aircraft listed matches the thumbnails, and that the { ui_variation=" Orange, Black" }is correct for the { texture=3 }. It is very likely that one or more of these doesn't match. I have a similar issue because I married the RealAir .cfg with the default .cfg. Let us know what you find!

My install of FSX/A is the same way, I think it's a MS "feature". I edited my aircraft.cfg to read ui_variation="White".I don't think there ever was a red and gold paint.

Same here, I think it's a bug in the fallback texture routine.[edit]This is an intermitent issue and can sometimes be fixed by loading another model then going back to the C172.This also happens with other default planes when loading the "White" model.[/edit]Simple to avoid by not selecting the "White" livery.regards,Joe

I don't see any red/gold 172's at all. See this post, from 2006.
