I'm back again with more news. I've been monkeying with this scenery trying to salvage my $25 investment, and I may have a solution for those who bought it. Keep in mind, I don't know half of what a scenery developer knows, but I've been moving files through the 'process of elimination' method and have it to where it's now usable. I'm sure someone with more knowledge could make this better, but for now my input may help a few. First of all, the afcad that came with the scenery didn't have the ILS frequencies for runways 11 and 29...I shouldn't say that for certainty with all the files I've moved though, LOL. What I've done is installed the kstl_15_rb afcad from AVSIM's library into my addon folder, so now my runways and frequencies are good. I then moved out of the Simmarket/KSTL FSX/KSTL_FSX/scenery folder the following files: KSTL_OBJ_VEHICULES; KSTL_OBJ_GRASS2; KSTL_OBJ_GRASS; KSTL_OBJ_AUTOGEN; KSTL_OBJ_ANIMATIONS; KSTL_LIB-CARS; KSTL-LIB01; KSTL-AF. Removing the last file noted I believe is the erroneous afcad file, and GSX consequently doesn't work right with my setup. My goal was just to find frames anywhere I could get them. So, I'll shutup for now, and you can attempt to salvage yours if you'd like. I know a pro could have this in better shape than I, so I'll follow this thread to see if others produce better results.

Hi,

If you want to increase your fps you can remove the volumetric grass and vehicles and some other things that maybe its not so much important and gives a better performance, the files to remove are:

kstl-obj-grass.bgl

kstl-obj-grass2.bgl

kstl-obj-vehicules.bgl

KSTL-OBJ-APP-LIGHTS.bgl

KSTL-OBJ-AUTOGEN.bgl

KSTL-OBJ-wigwags.bgl

Dont worry about your scenery, it doesnt change almost nothing try this and if you want your files back please reinstall or make a backup of these files.

Curt, how are the FPS now that you removed those files? BTW, did you see Vincents post below yours with some additional info?

Also, rather than use another AFCAD that doesn't go to this scenery, you could just mod the one that came with it using freeware ADEX. The reason being, the one you downloaded probably doesn't have all the proper excludes and you could have additional buildings and stock scenery items showing up around the airport or inside of the T2G terminals which could have a bad effect on FPS.

I'm almost temped to buy the scenery just to look at the ADE and see if I could fix it up, plus the fact that I would like to have a copy of STL, but I hate wasting money if I cant get it working well. Too bad they dont use the Flight1 wrapper like Imaginesim does so that I could get a refund if I can get it to work to my satisfaction.

Oh, btw, be carefull removing .bgls that are called xxx_LIB. While that will eliminate some stuff from showing up, it is essentially a library of objects that another .bgl will be calling for. While it might not have too much bad effect, it will have the scenery looking for and calling for objects to be displayed that they cant find due to the library bgl being removed.

Curt, how are the FPS now that you removed those files?

Based on my mods, default GA is now around 30, Duke Turbine around 24. I haven't tried Vincent's suggestions yet, but I will. My system is old (Q9300, GTS 250 card) , but tweaked so it works well with almost anything I buy.

Glad that you got it working better. Just as a point of reference, what speed is your Q9300 running at? Have you tried the NGX there assuming that you own it as well? I might give it a shot knowing that those file you took out got the FPS to a decent level.

My Q9300 is running at 2.5 Ghz. Now I know that sounds terrible, but honestly I get acceptable to good fps with all my other sceneries. With Usepools-0 and other relevant tweaks, I'm generally not complaining about performance. The NGX, yes I've been testing with that too. On final approach it's getting only 14, but it's a relatively smooth 14 if there is such a thing.

I took your advice and added back in the _LIB file, but I'm sticking with the alternate AFCAD for now. I'm not seeing any out of place buildings that would cause a problem so far.

While I'm not happy overall with this scenery, I think I'm nearing contentment. That means I'll use it, and hope for more performance improvements in the future.

Hello everyone. For the last couple of days I've been working with the developer to find a fix to this issue. I would like to state first and formost that the developer has been very open, and quick to respond and get out test fixes. Tonight, he sent me a fix that finally cleared everything up! I now get 40 - 60 FPS with this scenery. Along with the removal of the above BGLs, issues were also caused by the airport lighting. The developer has the fix and will be sending a revised exe to simmarket tomorrow. I would like to thank Cesar for all his hard work these last couple days and hope that everyone will turn around and support him once the fix is published.

 First off, Thank You Jeremy, that is great news. I'll defininetely keep an eye on this thread and hopefully be able to purchase this shortly. Now I wonder how it will integrate with the Newport photo-real scenery for St. Louis  . Just thought of something else, can anybody who has it already comment on whether the Jetways work or not.

Thanks

To piggyback Jeremy, the developer emailed me personally after he saw my negative simmarket review. He advised a fix is on the way. Something was wrong with some of the papi lighting lighting among other things. He is emailing me updated file set. After I test it I will post my results. If it works I will update my simmarket review. Props to the dev for reaching out.

Keep us updated as the reviews have been really bad fps wise that nothing else has been even mentioned.

This is good to hear, and I hope the AFCAD is updated as well. The ILS frequencies were not included for runways 11 and 29 in the original version.

Well if these issues get solved then I'll buy it, looks very good but its gotta work too.

Cesar from Taxi2Gate has been in constant contact with me. He sent me a temporary update that will be incorporated in to a new installer on my SimMarket account later today. I'll try it tonight. Others are saying it solved the FPS issue. They seem to care about their product. My only suggestion is more thorough testing before release.

Thank you guys for the updates its good to hear that Cesar from taxi2gate is working on a fix I know from past release's of scenery's from different developers if the designer used old code from fs9 it would bring frame rates down really bad on fsx I believe it was due to the landing lights or something like that I guess they were other files dragging down frame rates but I'm glade to hear that its being worked on and a good kstl was really needed in fsx and ignored by many other developers.
