March 1, 201214 yr Extract CorePropdefs.pak to a folder and have a read of the XML filesPROOF of AI, ATC, Flight plans and ... dynamic propagating FIRE? Pedestrians? Movable cargo containers? TRAINS!? Dynamic real world weather? Completely customisable weather? Incredibly detailed engine modelling?Ok, I'm really excited by what we are going to see over the next few months! :Drooling:
March 1, 201214 yr :).... Bumpl!! Thanks, corinoco. This is true technical post/thread.So guys, don't blame it so early. Just be patient after you research it.
March 1, 201214 yr awesome. I did some digging in the pak files earlier. seems to be a interesting amount of stuff that is not enabled...
March 1, 201214 yr That's very interesting and points to one of two possibilities, IMO:1. Microsoft were simply lazy - The whole development focus of Flight was on taking FSX and removing as much stuff as possible before releasing this skeleton of a flight simulator. Maybe they found it faster and easier to just disable the stuff, rather than fully deleting it from FSX? It's easier to just set "Enable ATC=0" somewhere, than to actually modify and re-pack files.2. Maybe they are indeed at least toying with the idea of adding stuff in the future. Clearly, about four people of those casual gamers who downloaded the game will be interested enough to not just spend 5 minutes crashing into buildings and then uninstall the game. They will need new content and challenges, like IFR flight and other air traffic, and new missions and challenges to go with that. Edited March 1, 201214 yr by JimmiG -
March 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member Or maybe3. They stripped FSX down to its bones, and adding it all back slowly with proper and modern programming code to support modern hardware better and future proof the product.Just a guess.. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 1, 201214 yr So there is AI! Happy Flying, Clem Wu Beta Tester for OZx, Iris Simulations and Shade.
March 1, 201214 yr I thought the same thing when I first dug into the beta. But look again at the headers in those files - they all say ACES at the top. I'm afraid this stuff is just leftovers from when ACES was working on FS11.Surely if this stuff was created by the new FLIGHT team, they wouldn't have plastered the ACES name all over it.
March 1, 201214 yr It's definitely not leftover from FSX; there's lots of new and cool stuff in there. It's leftover from what FS11 was going to be.
March 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member i think that with a smallest base pack to building a full "simulator" not only with planes. MS can add Trains, Ships, cars and hundred and hundred of features...... We can starting see the real picture of the "proyect", the problem, if MS can put hand works of them. Only a community member with intent maintain informed to the simulator community about DCS: World news and progress More news to the front....Disclaimer: I´m not member of DCS: World team, Eagle Dynamic team or None official 3rd party.
March 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member I dont see "Microsoft Boat" happening any time soon. I would rather them focus on adding to Flight then expanding there focus. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member I don't put my hands of the fire for them, but MS can change of direction on any time. Only a community member with intent maintain informed to the simulator community about DCS: World news and progress More news to the front....Disclaimer: I´m not member of DCS: World team, Eagle Dynamic team or None official 3rd party.
March 1, 201214 yr Rather normal that they removed a lot of options from the free version..... remember it's free but the real interest is to sell something in the future... PierreP3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...
March 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member TRAINS!?You are getting too carried away. Looking at xml files referencing the structure of trains, I noticed speed restriction fields for each consist of a train. This is way too detailed for flight simulator and probably an old or ported over code from Train Sim from the days there was the idea of joining the two products into a single, multi vehicle type simulator, something like ESP tried to be and Prepar3D is developed into right now (it already has submarines, for example). The sky up above is so much bluer.
March 1, 201214 yr Ok, that is just proof that flight engine supports all that stuff. My biggest concern is price; in theory they can introduce all that features one by one via DLC packs, and overall price could go up to several hundred euros. March 1, 201214 yr I have known this all along. When tinkering around in the .Pak files, you can "unpack" some of the hidden gems.
