AIrcraft creeping forward at ground idle and parking brake and chocks placed

Featured Replies

This is a problem that has plagued me in other aircraft in FSX besides the 737 NGX...The jet will creep forward very very slowly with the parking brake set AND the chocks in place, with ground idle at 21.4% Thru searching I have found explanations like brake failure from service based failures (which I have turned on) and throttle calibration errors.I'm certain its not simulated brake failure or partial failure of some kind because I checked the appropriate menus to make sure they were clear. Also thru search I found that people had Ground idles that varied from anything from 5% to 29% and yet they mention that the brakes hold the plane in place.I've recalibrated my throttle in several different ways (including leaving an intentional "space" below the calibration hard stop) so that when I am in the jet, I have another 1/4" or so I can pull back at what should be zero throttle setting, but the calibration program seems to be saavy enough to know what the "assumed" total throw on my CHProducts throttle is supposed to be so that is a no-go...Is there some value in the FSX.cfg file that I can adjust in order to keep the plane from moving? apologies if there is a solution to this or multiple threads that put it to rest, but I wasn't able to find anything...

Maby it is best too first try too salve this problem in an a simple as possible, standard fsx, aircraft. If you think of controller problemes you could try too calibrate it in windows itself, or look at your fsuipc settings.Have you always have this problem or did it start, and when? (maybe after installing other add-on or even windows software)But as you mentioned yourself, you are 'a bit' offtopic in this pmdg 737ngx forum.Maikel Rozemeijer.

Maikel,Thanks for the reply, I don't have the trouble with standard FSX aircraft, and I placed it in this forum in the hopes that it might be something particular to the 737ngx as that is where I have the trouble right now. The other aircraft where I see the same issue is PMDG 747-400... I think I eliminated the possibility of it being my throttle calibration because I tried the sim with the throttle disconnected and even with the throttle in the V/C obviously in their absolute lowest position, the plane still moves forward VERY slowly with chocks and parking brake on... The only thing that will keep it from moving is actually shutting the engines down (both) Very frustrating...

David,Did you try pressing F1 to make sure the throttles are actually at their backstops? A lot of times they won't go to that position even with the controller unplugged unless you do this. I have a button actually bound on my throttle for this... Just a quirk of the sim.I've left the NGX idling for several hours before and it doesn't move for me.

Hello David,No idea when this started?Maybe dumb, but I try too think with you, isnt it the push back truck (shift+p) that is doing this for you? Could be if you alway use the same start up file instead of manually enter your airport etc etc. Although sutting down the engines seemes other wise.Maybe you can try use a nother ngx startup file. Thanks for the suggestions Ryan and Maikel,I'll do a little more detective work when I get home later from work. Ryan, I tried hitting the F1 (and holding it) to bottom out the throttle and indeed in the V/C you can see the throttle handles on screen click down just a tad more, and the throttle percentage on the engines readout goes from 21.5 or so down to 21.1%, but even while holding F1 (with parking brakes and Chocks on) it still moves...My reference is lining up the window edge of the cockpit from inside with a vertical line on the jetway edge, and I would estimate it's moving about 3-4 inches/minute Very slow to be sure, but when I am sitting at the gate and working on a flightplan in the FMC and then look up to see the nose buried in the terminal wall, it gets a little disconcerting LoL!Its a small issue, but it would be grand to finally be rid of the problem :) I was hoping there was some value in the FSX.CFG file like brakes = "I am he-man master of the universe!" or something like that :)More later... I'm sure I'll eventually get it sorted out...

This is a known FSX issue. This problem happens with every aircraft when the engines are running. Well, it does for me. It's a issue with the way ground friction is implemented in the sim I think.

Thanks Patrick,I'm back now and I'm going into the sim and see what I can figure out... Ground friction, how interesting! the thing that stumps me is that with brakes on in standard FSX aircraft I have no issue, from the large jets all the way down to the little cessnas... It's literally been only the PMDG jets :( I think maybe when you have a SIM like the one's PMDG creates with very high fidelity, maybe it just doesn't jibe well with the more crude standards of the standard FSX programming? Kind of like how the PMDG autoplilots are too sensitive for the way that Flight Simulator implements turbulents?I'm going to do a bit of searching and research to see if there is variable for ground friction that I can find in the CFG file that I can alter without breaking other parts of the sim, or making other parts act loopy...

I get this every blue moon in the J41. Nothing will stop Her, not even slew mode then back to normal. Only thing I do then is just taxi a couple yards or so somewhere else and then reapply brakes and all and it is fixed.

Thank you Johan! I'll take a look at this utility and give it a try...

  • 1 month later...

I use MPSS brake fix to stop this.

What is this MPSS, I've tried google and it isn't much help.
