August 5, 201213 yr I was fortunate that MSFlight included my home base in the Alaska DLC. In the real world I only flew two different aircraft and never tired of them, although the PA12 was favored over the Cherokee. High wing has much better ground visibility which is paramount in bush flying. FSX sits on my hard drive and gets sporadic use and only when I get a hankering to fly heavies or anything that FSX has to offer.... I guess that would mean nearly anything that Flight does not have. I wish that at some point in the future MS continues to develop Flight because for this old bush pilot, Flight is as good as it gets.. at this point in time.

August 5, 201213 yr I loved FLIGHT when it first appeared, and then soured on it when I didn't think it was an FSX successor. But now that it's gone, I'm sad because it truly had potential, and I always HOPED that it would turn a corner and continue. I was patient that there was enough feedback that more and more would be accomplished and it would achieve excellence. I will still fly it, and continue to enjoy what's there. Stan
August 5, 201213 yr I will still fly it, and continue to enjoy what's there. That's the spirit, as I will as well. When the dreaded announcement first hit, I was really bummed, and did not launch Flight for several days. Then, I finally did, loading up a long job in the Maule, and off I went. Still as beautiful as ever, and still just as fun as ever. I even then went ahead and purchased the Carbon Cub Deluxe, when at first I thought I would not due to the announcement. Until/if something happens that makes it unable to launch and fly in Flight, I will continue to fly it. It will always have it's place, on my hard drive. Bang for the buck wise, I have gotten the best out of Flight. And will continue to do so. Wife and I went out to dinner and a movie Friday night, and we spent way more than what I have spent total in Flight. Friday night equated to about 4 hours of enjoyment, so far I have logged about 165 hours in Flight and with more to come - and have enjoyed every single minute of it. MS, you really had something good there to grow upon... Don B

August 5, 201213 yr Moderator No, he posted this evening reviving this old thread, Stephen has already deleted that post - and I can understand why... Oh I see. I lost power yesterday afternoon and it wasn't restored until just over 24hrs later. Needless to say, I'm way behind on my forum diving, never mind all my missed productive work hours! Fr. August 6, 201213 yr Flying in RL its as much repetitive as fsx , flight and what ever its about to be our future of sims... And yet i enjoy every bit of it . So i dont mind doing hawai and alaska every day ..... Image removed as image is no longer available.
August 6, 201213 yr It's OK Bill, you had me wondering there for a minute if I had misplaced some ball bearings somewhere! :unknw:
August 6, 201213 yr So i dont mind doing hawai and alaska every day ..... I agree, and there is so much one can do. Heck I have as of yet to even do an aerocache hunt. And I still need to go through Jeroen's VOR tutorial and learn more about flying VOR, and then there is getting and starting to use Plan G with my GMap. And jobs, those endless numbers of jobs, which are so far about my favorite thing to do. Don B
August 6, 201213 yr I keep hearing Lord Palpatines voice in The Empire Strikes Back saying: Only now, at the end, do you understand. It would be really ironic if only after its demise does flight get a fair hearing, and establish itself as a viable and accepted option in this community. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. August 6, 201213 yr worrying potential business model for this product ...Play Flight (free version) - and if you like it- and get into it - then buy FSX :) Funny you should mention that. Before Flight's launch, I remember saying on this forum that I was hopeful this new game would breathe new life into the FS community, and ultimately some would even trickle into the real aviation community. Hopefully that is a true statement. I'm not saying anything that hasn't probably already been said on this forum since Flight's launch and abandonment. The truth is, I haven't been interested in the topic and didn't follow it -- but I'm catching up tonight. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
