Help with XP!

Recommended Posts

Guest drobson

Are there any WinXP experts around? I just upgraded to XP Home from WinME. So far, so good. However, I cannot figure out how to get the "Search" function in IE to work. I've followed the instructions from the Help and Support Center, but when clicking on "Search", I get a "Unable to Connect" error stating the web site is unavailable or I've lost my net connection. I'm on a cable modem, and able to surf the net.Anybody know what's up with that? I've tried all the options available, to no avail. Thanks,Darrell

After a re-boot, the search function now functions. :-)Darrell

Darell,Also recommended is visiting http://www.windowsupdate.com and downloading and installing ALL Windows XP patches based upon Microsoft's intelligent installer.

Thanks, Rob. I've been there, and done that. It's gonna take a little time to get used to this OS, but so far, I like it. (It might just be my imagination, but these forums seem faster too). I just built this computer, and was having lots of problems under ME. They seem to have gone away now with XP.Darrell

drobsonJust a tip I picked up from a moderator some time ago..You might be better trying a 'computer-specific' site rather than a FLIGHT-SIM site for help with Windows problems. In order to help - May I recommend these two sites: http://www.annoyances.org/http://www.winforums.org/ve3ega
