March 4, 201214 yr Now that is pea soup! Surely it would be too thick to fly in and far below minimums wouldn't it? I don't know, for I am not a real pilot.Kind regards,I don't think you have to be a real pilot to know that you are right. This is why there are alternate airports, but it's a fun challenge nevertheless - if you have never done it before.Hi Attila...No lands or peoples to conquer today... so a little grumpy? It was recorded on a Dell U2711 and I have watched it on my Dell 24" (both widescreens). Recorded with Fraps and pushed directly (no editing as I said above) to Youtube. It is what it is... sorry it does not meet with your expectations (eh... not so much). Wish I could help out but you seem more knowledgeable in this area than myself.--------------------May look a bit better if you have the Big Island and can check it... load up a plane at Hilo on 26... heavy fog, morning. Thanks G_PI just realized you were the OP of the video. I picked an unfortunate comparison in that case as I was not really referring to your video, but your continued comments to people who do not share your boundless enthusiasm for this product. My comment was meant to illustrate that people have different levels of expectation from a product, yet you continue to want everyone to just dance around happily and sing Kumbaya.... and you are not above using personal attacks to get your point across as inHi Attila...No lands or peoples to conquer today... so a little grumpy?
March 4, 201214 yr Author Great video, Rob. You tracked that one down really well.I appreciate that Luis... thanks! Now that is pea soup! Surely it would be too thick to fly in and far below minimums wouldn't it?Not too thick to fly in... you fly in clouds... (well fog is ground based clouds...) and you can't see a foot in front of you.As far as the Approach is concerned, yes Stephen (as mentioned above) I had to descend more than a 100' below Decision Height (on glideslope) before I could see the runway environment (approach lights etc.)So it was more like a CAT II ILS approach in that I continued descent well below CAT I mins. A CATII approach is going to require "special" aircraft & aircrew certification. I do think it is possible to get an LOA (letter of authorization) from the FAA for an individual in the U.S. (have to do a checkride with an FAA DFE... I thinkMy comment was meant to illustrate that people have different levels of expectation from a product, yet you continue to want everyone to just dance around happily and sing Kumbaya. It did not illustrate much except your penchant for whining about FLIGHT every chance you get. I want to show those interested in another sim something about FLIGHT and the challenge it can present. If this type of challenge is beneath you... well then best to move along.Truth be told I have spent very little time sleeping since release of FLIGHT and trying to help people here who would like the help or encouragement. I can't do much with FLIGHT at this moment as there is a problem reading my career*.bin files.Other than reading / posting here... I did manage to squeeze in about 4 hrs of FSX flying yesterday in the fabulous Aerosoft Beaver amphib down in Orbx NZSI. Gearing up for a BAV PMDG744 flight Heathrow to Zurich... and you are not above using personal attacks to get your point across as inYou act as if you have never been teased before... Claiming this as a personal attack is nothing more than a puerile attempt to have me censured.I think what you are doing is very inappropriate... and against the spirit of what is intended in this Forum. And I think it would behoove you to "knock it off" and adjust your attitude a bit. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

And I think it would behoove you to "knock it off" and adjust your attitude a bit. Thanks in advance for your understanding.I think the next step for you is to become Avsim Staff, you already act as if you were one.You stop "teasing" me and will continue to stay on the subject, even if it is not in agreement with yours. I believe we can still do that in this forum.
March 4, 201214 yr Hello, very nice video. I went through this flight too... Even it is below the minimum, it is a very scary challenge...Another one is very difficult: landing near the Observaroty with the Maule...Regards.Frenchsimmer "Knowledge is worth only if it is shared"
March 4, 201214 yr Nice video, so glide slope is working? I read in another post that VOR's worked but there was no glide slope?
March 4, 201214 yr Moderator VORs don't have a glideslope. Some airports have only a Localizer (lateral navigation)Some airports have both a Localizer and Glideslope systems; when combined together they are called an ILS.Some airports have Localizer, Glideslope and DME systems; then they are called ILS/DME. March 4, 201214 yr Author Glideslope works just fine..Yes... sure does... it does move btw (the G/S needle)... I am not that good. Have another vid doing the same thing with the Maule using its HSI. Works just as well... but I find the RV-6A a more stable platform. And I find myself very envious of Larry. :Big Grin:Larry.... ehem... Mr. Adamson... I'll pump the gas... wash and wax the plane... keep the windows spotless... do the maintenance... JUST PLEASE LET ME BE THE CO-PILOT. :LMAO: :Just Kidding:

This is the part of the game that divides pro players from arcade ones. :drinks:If you have some time I would appreciate really a lot to see the same video with the Maule if you could. Thanks in advance Edited March 4, 201214 yr by Mark II
March 4, 201214 yr Author ¡Ay caramba! I half thought someone would ask. :Doh:Ok, I am uploading it as we post... despite the fact the landing is a little more, ehem, "fun" (willing to take some grief :Nail Biting: ).It takes a number of hours to upload, but as soon as I see it finish, will post the link.Feel free to "sock it to me." :diablo:
March 4, 201214 yr Great that was a nice video. Some time ago a remember a similar situation where i was inbound for RWY 13 at La Guardia and once i got off the runway .I was thinking out loud and i said with a big smile in my face " I just did this with a plane full of people and i call this a JOB " Image removed as image is no longer available.
