March 5, 201214 yr Very well said. What is wrong with a Guy saying 'Come on, give it a go'.Hi Tristan,I do question the purpose of this post in the FS9 forums. If you want to talk about giving Flight a go do it in the Flight forums. I would not go into the FSX forum or Flight forum talking about how good FS9 is and pushing my own opinion on them..I also know Dillon and know he is not a flamer or an instigator by any means however there is no way this thread is going to stay North of the border imho...To be fair, the OP is absolutely comparing night and day and a comparison between Flight (circa 2012) and FS9 (circa 2004) or even Flight and FSX is fruitless, they are all sims in their own rights but also very different in their own rights as well. Everyone has the right to use what they prefer but to go into the FS9 or FSX forums and start boasting about Flight is inappropriate IMHO. If you want to compare Flight to FSX or Flight to FS9 the primary purpose of your post is Flight and it should be made in the Flight forums...I would not walk into a Ferrari dealership to talk about Lamborghini, nor the FS9 or Flight forum to discuss FSX, nor the FSX or Flight forum to discuss FS9, nor the FSX or FS9 forum to discuss Flight....Just my humble .02-Paul Edited March 5, 201214 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 5, 201214 yr I was concerned that a "pro Flight" stance of the OP would start a war inside of the FS9 forum because it would be an unwelcome intrusion for fs9ers. After all, this is FS9s special place, not Flight's, FSX's or X-plane's. I was perfectly prepared to lock it as soon we saw that the OP was generally viewed as a provocation by FS9ers. That has not yet been the case, or at least not at an inflamed level, so it has stayed open. However, If it is inappropriate for a pro Flight post to be here in the FS9 forum, then would the fs9ers let me know and I will close it immediately. Fair is fair.Kind regards,

Every point of view that a thread starter sees will eventually result disputes, and no matter how hard they try to avoid disputes by making friendly approaches, still someone is likely addressed as a flamer (of course most of them didnt mean to be).The good thing is....Fs9 and fsx will be around for a long while yet and the community is getting stronger IMHO.Admit it, we are being too defensive. But that is a sign that FS9 and FSX will last long, and FLIGHT has come to put it on a test.Dillon has every reason on earth to come up with his thoughts (Thou I was not expecting I would find such topic in FS2004 forum). And yes, I know what Freedom of Speech means.Regards Edited March 5, 201214 yr by Reason
March 5, 201214 yr We're a very sensitive bunch here - the same sensitivity that sets our hearts aflame when we do a nice landing in FS9 with an Alaska airlines 737 on a grey sleety evening at Sitka RWY11 with a 15kt crosswind, lights up at the disturbingly different environment of Flight. We are unsure how to react.FS9 was all mood, with lots of room to let out imaginations soar. Nowadays FS9 also looks and feels amazing (sometimes). Flight though does look amazing but also reigns in our imagination, and instead of leaving us to create our own world, does it all for us - in a little bubble one Island across. No wonder we are exercised about it. We Brits of course do not show our emotions in public, we keep a stiff upper lip and scream in silence :-) (aaaarghhhhh!!)Like me, most of you probably get your kicks at least some of the time by doing something few of us can in real life - piloting a large aircraft from one hub to another - maybe the more remote the better and the worse weather the better (Yakutat in a 737 or Reykyavik in a 757 will do). For those whose excitement or satisfaction comes from doing that, Flight will never do the trick. Those who prefer bush flying in GA may be happier with FSX flying around the Orbx world, Lukla or Hawaii occasionally, but if you are in the UK you may be very unhappy not to have an airport like EGKA (Shoreham) to fly from. You can also do all that in FS9, but Flight will never do that for you - at least for a long time probably - it is almost certain to be US centric for some time yet...So Flight will do little to give us adventuring souls any real fulfillment or excitement once we have done the missions - which do look good by the way. But thanks for the honest and informative appraisal of Flight and an instructive video. I have downloaded Flight myself and it seems to work well on my E6850 machine. Once I get the hang of it, I may give up that B200 flight from Ushuaia to Base Marambio or Juneau to Yakutaut in a 737, for Flight. maybe once or twice, but probably not that often.Ray
March 5, 201214 yr I would expect the next sceneries to become available for Flight will all be "glamorous", "romantic", "adventurous", or similar, at least for a while. Caribbean islands, Las Vegas, Tibet, Alaska - that sort of thing. Las Vegas may be a stretch because of all the detail required, but they already have much of it in FSX. We'll see...
