Oceanic Entry Point?

Hi guys,I regulary hear on my scanner, 'NWA 53 routing via Otringham > Ilse of Main and the Oceanic Entry Point will be......'Can some supply me with some info about these OEP? Where they are and when they're used?Thanx for the help,:-waveEvert

I wonder if it has to do with the switching of the aircraft to the SSB freqs. needed when crossing the pond... Once you get beyond a certain point, line of sight transmissions are no longer possible, and pilots must switch to SW.I regularly listen to SSB aircraft traffic over the Atlantic on my SW receiver. You can audit position reports, and pick up odd maint. traffic from time to time. It is quite a bit of fun to listen to the hodgepodge of international accents crossing the pond...

it's actually just an intersection that defines the first fix of the NAT(North Atlantic Route)here's the copy of a part of an actual NAT:C MASIT 56/20 58/30 58/40 57/50 LOACH FOXXEso this means track C (charlie) has an entry point called MASIT,which is just an ordinary intersection but which is the entry pointFOXXE would be the exit point

Hi Evert,as other readers have pointed out, NAT stands for the North Atlantic Tracks - those bits of the transatlantic flights that use only coordinates for waypoints. More interestingly, these routes change according to wind patterns and actual weather (Jet streams and such) - there are several websites that publish more or less recent tracks for your flightsimming pleasure.
