My Flight kids test. Flight passed with flying colors.

Just had the kids come up and give Flight a go. The verdict is they loved it and after two hours I had to kick them off the sim. I use the realistic settings meaning the stupid hud is gone and the flight models are set to realistic. They loved the challenge. I must say with the graphics and the superior FDE's this sim is a winner for me. I just hope the DLC includes things like activating ground traffic, ATC, and AI. The one place I'm really hoping for if Flight ends up being an area sim is lower Alaska in the Fjords region (I keep saying this so MS will hear me). I'm sure gamers would love the challenge including simmers. Of course the golden goose would be to open this sim up to simulate the whole world and welcome in third party development but until then I'll take Alaska bush flying with DLC that allows for dynamic cargo runs to cabins throughout the area.

The only difference between kids and the boys are the price of there toys. ;) I have a good friend and all he plays is MMO's. He has a slight interest in flying and builds satilites for big names. He gave Flight a little time. After 3 hours he IM'ed me wanted to know more about simming. I told him to look here! I think Flight is the perfect introduction to simming. It brings them in softly and gets them hooked. FSX and XP scare away most casual arm-chair pilots just with its overly complex UI's and difficult control systems. I say we welcome this new generation of simmers in with Flight, then we get them up to speed and graduate them into FSX or XP. If MS wants to keep these new virtual pilots, they must also bring Flight up to speed with more advanced options!

What area would you like to see done?

Quiet as it's kept FSX drove allot of people away with it's price of admission in it's required from hardware (in the early years the hardware wasn't even available). Next was the hours upon hours of tweaking it took in it's early years to find FSX's sweet spot. People were spending more time hacking the sim versus flying. With Flight on day one all one has to do is jump in and fly. No tweaking, to unreasonable hardware requirements, no frustration in redoing everything when SP1 and SP2 comes out. Microsoft would get a bigger bang for it's buck developing Flight to it's fullest potential. The underlying engine in Flight is the future if Microsoft let's us have access to it. Flight's code is the what we need for our future simming as it's fully optimized for today's hardware and OS's.
