March 5, 201214 yr Wow! This is a long mission.Don't let the mission description fool you. It says 1hr, but let me tell you, 1hr isn't even close! (Unless you use the Next Waypoint feature which will knock your score down quite a bit). For owners of the Hawaii Adventure Pack, this may be one of the best missions in Flight. But be ready for a session over 4 hours long. Here is a link to the flight path. The route is over 600nm long and takes you from Hawaii to Maui on to Oahu, then out to Kauai with a return trip back direct to Hawaii. Add in the scenic diversions, time orbiting for the photographer, and a layover at Dillingham for a break and refuel (and you're gonna need that refuel, trust me). This may be the best way to see all of the major points of interest in one sitting. I don't want to go into any more details so as not to provide a spoiler.I found myself letting my copilot (mouse mode) take over for some of the longer legs since even the gentle 5kt breeze kept knocking me off course. Even then, I was regularly having to redirect my "copilot" as my altitude was never perfect and changes in windspeed and direction would alter our course. All-in-all, I highly recommend this mission for anyone that enjoys long flights because with the exception of the return leg, it's full of scenery and isn't dull by any means.WildBill
March 5, 201214 yr Commercial Member Nice Bill, I just started it a few mins ago and am en route to Pearl now. Noah Bryant
March 5, 201214 yr Thanks for the heads up, I was going to attempt that one tonite as I have about 1 hour of free time, but not 4 hours. LOL It's got me thinking now if Flight has any auto saves so you can shut it off if you have to go and then pick up again the next time. I know I crashed a couple days ago and got to start from the last checkpoint, but can't remember if it was a mission or job or what? Love Airplanes and American Muscle Cars
March 5, 201214 yr I just finished that mission now. I loved it. Knowing next to nothing about Hawaii other than ww2 stuff, it was a very interesting flight. I even used the time to figure out VOR navigation with the RV-6A. I could have wished that the guy was more chatty on the long runs between the islands though, but then it might quickly be too much as well.Loved the mission, hope we get to see more of that in the future!

(Unless you use the Next Waypoint feature which will knock your score down quite a bit). That is correct. All the mission times in Flight are based on using the skip to next waypoint feature. We tried to get them to fix this in beta or at least also provide the non-skip time as a lot of people like to fly the entire flight. Yes, it took me about 4 hours as well. I think you will be happy with the xp though if you don't skip to any waypoints! Edited March 5, 201214 yr by KevQA Kevin Witt

I know I crashed a couple days ago and got to start from the last checkpoint, but can't remember if it was a mission or job or what? The only "auto saves" are at each checkpoint. If you crash, you can resume your flight from the last checkpoint, BUT you loose the no-skip bonus if you do so.As for saving an continuing a mission, I just hit "Esc" to get the menu up, which pauses the game. Then I can walk away and come back later. I've even put my PC to sleep like that and come back and resumed the mission without the no-skip penalty. For now, these seem to be the only work-arounds.WildBill

I was confused as to why all jobs of the same type had the same estimated time even if one was 40nm and the other was 200nm.
March 5, 201214 yr I flew this mission last weekend but after 4h of flying Flight didn't noticed that I'm aproaching the final aiport (no chating from the passenger) then I landed at the airport but sadly nothing happened. So I took off again and used the skip to waypoint funktion. I found myself apporching the final airport and everything went right but at the end due to the skip I didn't got the bonus.I don't know what went wrong at the first approach.
March 6, 201214 yr I hate to tell you this, but there is no XP bonus for not skipping in that mission, or other story missions for that matter. Other than the Clandestine Cargo job, the jobs you can fly do have the XP Bonus present. We realize now that we need to be more consistent with things like that, things just got a bit hectic in the later weeks...

Other than the Clandestine Cargo job, the jobs you can fly do have the XP Bonus present. We realize now that we need to be more consistent with things like that, things just got a bit hectic in the later weeks...Wait... What? There's no bonus for not skipping on missions? I KNOW I've skipped on missions and am pretty sure I've seen a No Skip possible score and my score was 0 for the mission. I'll fly one again to verify, but I've only flown a couple of Jobs and all of the Missions and was pretty sure even missions had an XP penalty for skipping. Like I said, I'll verify tonight or tomorrow and post the results. And you say "we need to be more consistent". Who is "we"? And what tasks have or don't have skip bonus or penalties, whichever way you look at it. I'd like to see the scoring details in the mission/job briefing.WildBill Edited March 6, 201214 yr by WildBill813
March 6, 201214 yr Author OK. Just did the Wedding Party mission and there is no bonus for not skipping. I'll try more to verify that missions don't penalize you for skipping ahead.Same thing with the Kayaker Rescue mission. I skipped to waypoints and didn't see any penalty.Think it's save to say that Missions can use the Next Waypoint feature without penalty, although you sure miss a lot along the way.Next, I'll test the Jobs.Sure enough. A $100 Burger job received 0 pots for No Skip During Flight. So it appears that only Jobs have penalties for skipping to the next waypoint. (With the exception of Clandestine Cargo which doesn't permit skipping in the first place.)Good to know. Edited March 6, 201214 yr by WildBill813
March 6, 201214 yr And you say "we need to be more consistent". Who is "we"?"We" means those who put together all the pieces of the puzzle that became Flight.
March 6, 201214 yr Author "We" means those who put together all the pieces of the puzzle that became Flight.Well "we", being those enjoying the fruits of your labor, appreciate all of your hard work.Sure, there are things that we all would add to our wish list, but at the moment I'm thoroughly enjoying Flight. Cant wait to see what the future brings!Thank you all.WildBill
March 6, 201214 yr OK. Just did the Wedding Party mission and there is no bonus for not skipping. Apart from the Ukelele award ;) John-Alan Pascoe
March 6, 201214 yr it's good to know Missions don't have a skip penalty. How about Challenges? I goofed up a challenge yesterday after 25 minutes of flying... The next time I will skip that part for sure...
