My Aircraft textures display rough but sceney looks fine?

Featured Replies

Hi,I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and sorted it out?The actual aircraft texture on all my installed planes look pretty rough bit the scenery textures outside look fine. Really odd. At first I thought it was a ploy by microsoft to get you to buy the extra planes then all looks good but it was not to be.I'm running 2 X 5870 ATI cards 500mhz each on a reasonable system that displays FSX just fine. Tried changing the different settings within Flight but no luck. As I said though the scenery looks great.Any help would be appreciated please.Thanks,Andrewexterioro.jpgpanelu.jpg

No idea. If its not settings, I might try deleting the plane in the client and reinstalling.

It certainly is an odd one as all the planes are the same. I looked again at the scenery and to be honest that isn't too clever either when seen up close but from a distance it looks fine.Hey, it's just like the old days messing around with FSX to get the graphics looking good. :Party:Think I'll just uninstall the whole thing this evening then download and install it again.

I have the exact same problem. If you find a solution, would you kindly post it here? I'll try to figure it out too. Thanks

Hi Gsmaciel,Unfortunately uninstalling it all didn't do the trick as it was still the same after downloading it again and installing the planes. I think I saw a post yesterday on the AMD forum mentioning something along the lines of 'No smoothing was applied to the shadows and the textures looked really crap close up'.I don't have FSX installed anymore (got fed up with it crashing) but last time I used it the textures up close were spot on.It may be an issue with the Radeon drivers? I have 2 X 5870 ATI cards (500mhz each) and all is up to date as far as the Catalyst version.I guess Flight has only really just come out so we have to wait for AMD to catch up

Whatever it is, it is a graphics card, or graphics card issue. I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Maybe even do a fresh driver download to make certain they were not corrupted. Do you need some kind of driver sweeper when you do that with ATI cards?Kind regards,

Excellent Idea Stephen and it worked. Many thanks from the West coast of Canada.I'm writing the process out so it can get picked up by stressed people also looking for the same solution via Google :good:First I completely uninstalled the catalyst program and then rebooted. The display was still the same so something AMD / ATI was still running things. Went to Device manager and looked at the display adapter driver and it was still using one that was dated 1/26/11 V 8.821.00. Uninstalled that, deleted the two folders (AMD / ATI ) that were on the C drive and then rebooted and then finally got the large stretched desktop and icons so everything was now deleted.Installed the latest catalyst program program, rebooted but textures still looked crap in Flight.Went back to the Device manager - display adapter driver - and noticed that windows had put the same old driver back in so did a 'Update Driver' and manually browsed for it instead of letting windows play silly buggers and wasting everyone time. Took a guess at this one below dated 12/5/2011 and V 8.930.0.0C:AMDSupport12-1_vista_win7_64_dd_cccPackagesDriversDisplayW76A_INFLook what I got nowsharper02.jpgsharper01.jpgThanks again,Andrew
