March 5, 201214 yr I was wondering about that too. Did I miss something in the game, or did meshman not actually try it?HookWhen you reposition yourself on the map, you will allways end up at 1000 AGL. Meshman probably didn't try it.
March 5, 201214 yr Moderator I really wish that they'd programmed it to "right-click/move/remain on ground" instead of the "leave me 1000' AGL..." :bad: Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 5, 201214 yr They should have added the ability to get out and push the plane yourself. It would be better than nothing. It would really help at those small airports when you accidentally snag a wing on a tree. Fortunately I have only done that once, but I was simply sitting there trying to figure out how I could manipulate the plane to get it un-stuck. All the while the pigs in the back were snorting at me. Todd Fleck

Remember the question was "Can I move the aircraft backwards to avoid colliding with the hanger? " and I was answering it.But TBH, I did forget about getting zoomed up in the air. But that is preferential to being stuck up against a building and not being able to power your way off... Not that I've been stuck on a 3' high taxi sign or anything...

March 5, 201214 yr Meshman, I was hoping you'd found a way to move the planes on the ground! Well, darn.If I get totally stuck on the ground, I generally go to the map and select a runway to start. Not as good as moving on the ground, not as good as being able to select a parking spot, but at least I can fly again. Too bad we can't exit the plane and move the plane around on foot.Since they have a jet in the Alaska DLC, it's likely we'll get some kind of pushback.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 5, 201214 yr a long winded push back story. . . .I got into a real world push back game one day at TICO airport near the space center in Florida. I was instructing at a non-federal control tower airport in a Cessna 150 with a georgeous 16 year student pilot and my attorney's daughter that had about 200 hours of stick time growing up in her dad's Cessna 210 in the left seat. We were about to pass in front of the terminal which is also just about in front of the tower when an Eastern 727, jep that long ago, made a quick swing with the pilot not being able to see us dead center of the yellow taxi stripe. I looked up just in time to see the Captain's two bulged eyeballs as he mouthed 'Holy Shi#'Dead silence for a few seconds as the 727 bounced off the nosewheel stops. It was obvious neither of us could move without some outside help. I was the first to speak as the local CFI community was not real pleased that the new airliners landing at TICO were getting priority handling for straight in appoaches and departures no matter what runway was in use.I piped up with "Hello Tower, Cessna 84S, who has the right-of-way here?" Knowing full well that I did as I sat dead center of the yellow line and the silver haired Captain was going to have to back the big hunk of iron up so our right wing could pass about even with his stiff upper lip.Well, before the Tower could respond the Eastern 727 boomed into our headsets with "I Do"Quite irritated I responded with "Just how do you figure that?"Eastern: Easy, I have 3 flight attendants, you only have one.''Ray: As I pull the mixture to kill the engine, "Right, it will only take a minute for me to push this little guy back out of your way, SIR", have a nice flight.Eastern: The smartest salute I have ever received. My push back story of the day.Ray When Pigs Fly . March 5, 201214 yr Sometimes I'm too near the hanger to avoid a collision. Can I move the aircraft backwards? You can also change the aircraft's heading in the Map by holding left+click on the circle symbol surrounding your aircraft and drag it to a new heading away from the hangar.
March 5, 201214 yr Author You can also change the aircraft's heading in the Map by holding left+click on the circle symbol surrounding your aircraft and drag it to a new heading away from the hangar.A great idea! Thanks.........Cliff Cliff Harris
March 5, 201214 yr Press "E" to leave the planePress "T" to pull out the tow barPress "H" to hook up the tow barPress "F" to pull the plane "forward"Press "B" to pull the plane "backward"Ohhh, I'm a bad boy!I'm sorry! :LMAO:
March 6, 201214 yr Sometimes I'm too near the hanger to avoid a collision. Can I move the aircraft backwards?Cliff I found myself in the same position. decided to test the strength of the back wall of the hanger. did not get out of the hanger..
March 6, 201214 yr Moderator You can also change the aircraft's heading in the Map by holding left+click on the circle symbol surrounding your aircraft and drag it to a new heading away from the hangar.Already suggested. Same problem remains, when you return to the flight you're in the air at 1000' AGL, headed is which ever direction you rotated to...The only way to stay on the ground is to pick a runway at the nearest airport. March 6, 201214 yr Bill, I was so sure that that is how I got out of a predicament once before that I had to load up Flight and experiment. Darn if I could not find a situation that let me stay on the ground. You are right of course...it’s not possible.
