March 6, 201214 yr One of those 'magical moments' we all remember happened the first time that I used FSX. I had flown from the UK South coast across to the Channel Islands with 'real updating weather' enabled. The UK was overcast but dry, but that changed heading South. Dropping down through thick cloud and rain into Jersey, I was startled by lightning and a clap of thunder...A couple of hours later, flight simming over, I was watching the British Grand Prix on TV with the curtains closed... Suddenly there was an almighty clap of thunder outside. That FSX storm had tracked North, right over London. That was when I thought real weather was pretty darn cool :-)With Flight, I would like to be able to vary the density of fog - perhaps have a 'low mist' option as well? At the moment I am finding a night landing in fog (hand flying the ILS) quite, er, challenging!
March 6, 201214 yr Commercial Member I prefer real weather a some "theme fixed weather", a good RW immersion has a very good chance to a GA aircraft, and on the Alaska DLC expected coming more extreme weather situations: Ventisca, Snow Storms, Fixed Thunderstorms, icing conditions, Hail, etc.. Only a community member with intent maintain informed to the simulator community about DCS: World news and progress More news to the front....Disclaimer: I´m not member of DCS: World team, Eagle Dynamic team or None official 3rd party.
March 6, 201214 yr It would be a nice feature to have, but I didn't use it much in FSX and probably wouldn't use it much in Flight either.
March 6, 201214 yr RWW... it should be included as an option. And, to the topic of those "little cloud puffs"... sorry MS but they may just as well have been "sheep"... especailly when I see them all lined up... just waiting to be counted! <smile>
March 6, 201214 yr I'm sot of torn on this subject. If one is flying the "Heavy Iron", then inclimate RW weather is really cool. But if you are flying the Light AC currently in FLight, you are grounded.I woke up this morning to just such weather in Hawaii, and realizedthat in FSX it wouldn't have bothered me.I think the "weather Fairy" was messing with my settings. But, in FLight, with it's gusting winds, I was blown all over the sky.Which made me think:We need a damage model. and in hanger repairs.Has anyone discovered if you can "fry" an engine in FlightI'm wandering..haven't had my java yet.RB Flight gamertag = ronzo155
March 6, 201214 yr I like to kid myself that I like to fly in real weather, but to be honest, I prefer to decide on what type of weather I feel like flying in on that particular day. I understand why real weather is important to some people, but it's certainly not a deal breaker for me. Somedays I feel like I want a hot, sunny day flying around Aus in the Katana, then on another day I might like a challenge flying the DC 3 around the northern rocky mountains, with 8/8 cloud, strong winds and heavy rain! Having the ability to decide what type of weather I want to fly in is more important to me than flying in particular weather that I have no control over. One thing that may change is the new REX essentials update. If I am not wrong, I understand that there is a feature within the forthcoming software that will allow you to decide what kind of real weather you want to fly in, then REX will offer you the relevent locations that have that particular weather... now then, is that cool or is that cool? March 6, 201214 yr I don't know if real world weather is as important as dynamic weather. Sure, it is cool to look out your window and then go fly in the same weather that you see. However, I do not think it is as important as having weather that at least acts like real weather. What I mean is that I would prefer weather that changes over time, is random and at times unpredictable. It does not have to be what is really happening, simply a representation of what does happen in a given areas climate cycle.I would like to see this implemented as well. Real-world weather would be a plus, but a truly dynamic weather system would definitely add a lot of enjoyment and *unexpected* challenges while flying along. :) Happy Flying! -George
