March 12, 201214 yr I am planning to get FSX and I want to know what addon I should get that makes it better, newer,or good planes.I also have the logitch dual gamepad, will that work good with FSX?
March 12, 201214 yr If you search this forum using the terms "recommended addons" and "recommended payware" you'll get a host of useful suggestions. Just a bit of effort involved....
March 12, 201214 yr Now there's a question that will probably get you a lot of suggestions. So here's a few from me...One thing that really will give you a lot of bang for your bucks, and improve all the aircraft in FSX, is A2A's Accu-Feel add-on, which works with any FSX aeroplane, either default or add-on. It's definitely a tenner well spent. Most people will probably recommend REX, which adds very attractive clouds and lots or other stuff too, including improved textures for runways, grass and such. It has a better weather interpretaion engine too, so if you connect online and download realtime weather reports, it will make your skies very realistic. It also has a nice flight planner in it. REX is a very big download, but it offers a one-stop-shop which improves all kinds of things in FSX, so REX really is a lot of bang for your buck.If you like airliners, then you should take a look at PMDG; they are not the only ones who make decent airliners for FSX of course, but I think most people will agree that they are right up there at the forefront of things. If you prefer older aeroplanes, then give A2A a look; Again, I think most people will agree that what they do is absolutely amazing. If you prefer small GA aeroplanes, then the likes or Carenado will be worth a look. These are by no means the only developers worthy of consideration, but they are a good place to start looking, and with that in mind...Perhaps a good idea would be to take a look on websites such as Flight 1 and Simmarket, since both those are great for having a good look at what is around and getting a feel for the add-on market. Flight 1 offers a fairly unique money back guarantee too if you are unhappy with what you buy, which means that satisfaction is pretty much guaranteed. Simmarket often has very honest and forthright user reviews linked on its product pages, and these are generally an accurate guide to what is good or bad. You should note however, that Simmarket is not always the cheapest place to buy, but it is a good place to browse, and if you do buy from them, they allow repeated downloads, because they store all your purchased product data on your account for years, which is useful if you lose your info or the installation files in a computer mishap. Flight 1 do that too by the way.I'm sure people will be along with various 'must-have' recommendations, and of course Avsim has a review section, which is worth a look if you take a shine to something in particular, although take anything that Chock reviewer guy says with a pinch of salt LOL. Take your time and read up on anything you fancy, checking out a few reviews is always time well spent before commiting to buy, and not just with Avsim reviews either, because keep in mind that reviews are the reviewer's opinion only.Oh, and welcome to Avsim too by the way.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 12, 201214 yr There are tons of good free ones; the Avsim file library is your friend. :Idea:Gampads do work with FSX and they are in fact great for flying choppers in FSX because you can use one joypad for the cyclic and the other for the collective pitch and tail rotor pedals, which is fairly close to the combined controls you need for a chopper and better than a standard jostick in that respect.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Plus I think getting Acceleration is a must too. In fact, getting FSX Gold is the best way to go. My favorite freeware site (which is constantly updated) is located at the following - http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html. Much of the scenery links back to AVSIM.Best regards,Jim
March 13, 201214 yr Welcome to these great forums Quangvu45!The following are what I have to improve the environment/scenery in FSX, and imho has made it into one beautiful sim - way better than it was at stock. These are also fairly popular with many simmers and I am sure you will see mention of them often.FS Genesis MeshUTXGEXREX2 - note, these guys are going to be soon releasing REX Essentials, basically an REX3 - whole new re-worked program - and it will be free for current registered users. There are other offerings out there to do the same as the above do, and they may be suggested as well. Any of them you get positive feedback here on the Avsim FSX forum and you really won't go wrong with them.I have yet to enter the payware aircraft arena, I do plan to do so at least here in the near future. Also please note, and if you have read much of this forum you will already know, FSX can bring even the best of today's system to it's knees. You might want to post your system specs, to get an idea from others how well it may run FSX and any tips on how to get it to run at it's best.I would suggest you take a look at the following for installation tips for FSX, and as someone already mentioned, go ahead and get Acceleration with it:http://www.simforums...topic29041.htmlAlso, if you have an Nvidia video card, have a look here on how to get the most out of it for FSX, using Nvidia Inspector, by NickN - considered the guru of video card setup for FSX:http://www.simforums...topic36586.htmlBest of luck, Don B
March 13, 201214 yr I had same question. Major lists here. That said, don't buy a thing yet. Play vanilla FSX first for a while and see how it runs on your system. Then try the many demo or freeware addons.Depending on your hardware, you may find yourself not happy with looks vs performance.
March 15, 201214 yr Explosions? no not really. As far as Flight vs. FSX it is a matter of what you are looking for.... They both have good and bad points. Todd Fleck
