May 30, 201214 yr Why would anyone want to buy 717's? One of the biggest flops in commercial aviation. Not a real plane not an RJ. Too harsh and rather misinformed IMO. I used to fly on the 717 all the time when Airtran was still flying to Dallas...The seats in that plane are horrible! Very little cushion, seat pitch was ridiculous, and there was a seat support under the seat that effectively negated you putting a bag that would fit under a 737 seat easily. In short, it may be a great plane for the bean counters, mechs and pilots, but is horrible for the passenger. The 737 flights were so much nicer, they even have Recaro seats! Regards,Steve Dra Sorry to go off-off-topic, but... This has everything to do with the airline. In the past few weeks I've flown on Lufthansa airbuses (a320 and a321) and United airbuses (a320) and the Lufthansa wins hands down and by a wide margin. So, it is possibly to comfortably equip any of these airliners. On the average, a US airline (in cattle class) was always worse than a similarly-equipped euro airline in my recent travels (I didn't travel on any budget airlines in Europe, so perhaps thats different). Jeff Bea I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.
May 30, 201214 yr Commercial Member Yeah, too few people realize planes are similar to cars in that regard. A couple of my buddies have the same car, but one of them got the upgraded (race-inspired) seats, and the other got the budget version. I hate the budget version, but that isn't because of the car (or manufacturer), it's because of the operator... Then again, my automatic assumption for simmers and airline passengers alike are that they know nothing until they prove otherwise. Kyle Rodgers
