March 23, 201214 yr Toe brakes are assigned in the .cfg file and do not seem to work because they must be repeatedly applied. One application only applies the brake for an instant and then goes away. Adding a line just below the "event" line that applies left or right brake "intermittently", stating <Repeat>32.000000</Repeat> will give you braking power for as long as you hold the brake - not just a tap.To get to this location (.cfg file), there are several posts on this board giving instructions for joystick sensitivity which will explain that. March 23, 201214 yr Moderator hmm.well neither my prop nor mixture controls have a null zone entry. is this because i don't have them mapped to an axis?jakeWell yes, if you haven't mapped 'em to an axis they won't have the entry, but then they probably won't work at all. What controller do you have? I use a CH Pro Yoke with three levers. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

March 23, 201214 yr I don't think I have seen this mentioned here:The delay on the brakes, from pressing a button on the joystick to brakes actually being applied in the sim. Seems to be around 1.5-2 second delay. Very annoying to me.Don't know if this occurs using the key command as well or not? I know I have seen it mentioned by others in the past couple of weeks or so. March 24, 201214 yr Moderator The strange "delay" hasn't been mentioned in this thread until now, but I did note it several weeks ago during a discussion on editing the standard.xml file and the Tutorial I added. March 24, 201214 yr The delay: The brakes have two states, on and off, because they're interpreted as button presses. When you press the brakes button, the brakes start to apply, eventually getting to max. When you release the button the brakes slowly release the same way.You can see the same effect in the ailerons, for example, by watching the stick or aileron itself while pressing an arrow key. What I've seen with the null zone in the prop and mixture is that it produces a pause in the middle of the travel while increasing or decreasing the control. If you haven't removed the null zone, go to the cockpit and slowly move one of these controls from minimum to maximum, and watch the control lever. I reported this as a bug.Adjusting mixture, on the Stearman at least, will change the fuel flow on the gauge. It also changes the power the engine produces, and you can use the mixture control to "fine tune" your trim if you wish, although not the best procedure to do it. When flying at altitude, you can't leave the mixture on full rich or the engine will quit, especially on the P-51, which has a very narrow range where the engine will run when you get to 30,000 feet. The Stearman mixture is very obvious when you use Next Waypoint during a biplane tour and the next waypoint is at the observatory on the main island.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I might have ragged on the dev team in the beta forum, the same way I did about the aerobatics training mission being unavailable without the full Hawaii (they tell you to do aerobatics in the Challenges, but haven't yet explained what counts as aerobatics), but I figured they already figured the brakes were a probem and would eventually be fixing it. Aside: I noticed the aerobatics training mission has been moved to the main island in the release version. :DHook Larry Hookins Oh!
