If you own both FSX and P3D - Do you still use FSX and why?

Just curious about this as it is probably known by most that there is a new licensing option for $49, and I and many others I am sure are more interested because of the price reduction.RegardsBob

Hi,I prefer P3D and have been using it for the past six months, I haven't opened FSX since purchasing P3D's developers license from LM. Now with this new pricing scheme, P3D just got a whole lot better.

Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings

                Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME                    One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck

I have P3D and FSX. I use FSX 99% of the time. But now since the educational licenses are available, I feel compelled to begin using it more often. It also seems that the P3D devs pay close attention to their forum and actually implement feature requests.

I have been thinking of getting it at this new and very reasonable price! My only concern is that of performance? Am I right in thinking it currently performs worse than FSX in the same circumstances and under the same hardware?...perhaps this still puts other people off too!

Cheers!

I'm certainly interested in how things go with P3D. It will be interesting to see where it goes since M$ wandered off. The recent developments are sounding encouraging. I don't see the business model with Flight. It seems that M$ threw the baby out with the bathwater trying to turn their investment into a mass market game. Who'd have thought that LM would be the one to pick up the ball.I don't have P3D yet, but the night is young :)I'm curious what the differences are between FSX and P3D. I've seen the increased texture resolution to 4096. I've seen that P3D has some new development tools. What else has changed?

Some things can get a bit shaky where connecting to P3D is concerned, most of these are not insurmountable issues, but the fact that they are not issues at all with FSX means that FSX still gets used by me. I could see a time when P3D will be the way to go though, since theoretically MS could pull the support plug on FSX, stopping it registering when reinstalled in the same way that they now no longer patch XP, which would make P3D the only game in town. At that point it would be time for a permanent switch, but at the moment, I use them both..Al

Does FSUIPC work with P3D? Or for that matter, do you even need FSUIPC in P3D at all?

Yes, FSUIPC works with Prepar3d.

I use P3D for scenery design. If TrackIR is ever supported I'll be using it for flying as well.

I haven't tried 1.3 yet but Trackir worked fine in 1.2 when used with a Beta of EZCA

There are so many questions, and personally I'm concerned that there doesn't seem to be any real conclusive answers. I have read posts about P3D being far smoother than FSX and then I've also read that it still stutters and it still produces blurries. I have also read that the framerates are slightly better but I've also read that framerates are slightly worse in some cases. So, until I can use all my addons and port them over without any headaches and actually be able to quantify a better flying experience, then I will stick with FSX.

I wonder if TI works fine with p3d. I want to jump ship but I'm not going to get p3pd if Trackir does not work right .Any of you tried the combo p3d +TI ?Thanks

Wow, I didn't think for a moment that TrackIR didn't work with P3D. That would disclude me from any interest in the product, until TIR support is provided. :(
